Baffert Fined

To make sure all the rules are followed, two years ago. John Magnier was at Churchill and he wanted to get into an aread of the track where you had to have a pass and the security guard wouldnt let him through - lol. Magnier asked the security guard if he knew who he was and he said "yes sir, you are John Magnier." Magnier said "thank you." The security guard said "you still are not going to get in without your credentials. Magnier went back to get his pass-lol.

And you as a CD cheerleader are proud of that? That a guy who has put hundreds of millions in the game, that the guard knew who he was, was forced to go back and get a piece of paper for "regulations" purpose? Geez, thats just horrible. I never heard anything so awful in my life. Thank God they won't get their hands on NY racing. Thats the last thing NY racing needs, moronic bureaucratic regs where trained people just don't have the guts or authority to make judgement calls. Ask a CEO of any successful company if he wants drones working for him or people who can think and make decisions and see what they tell you.

Again, I do not agree. But there are rules to follow. It is nice to see the guards follow the rules. Maybe all this great horsemen ship in New York is the reason why the NYRA is so successful.

yeah, they should take guys like Magnier and make em go back and get a piece of paper to see a horse they own run. That would really help them out a whole lot. lol

Yes they should if the people that are hired dont know who owns who. At least have someone from track management with security help the poor dude(s). They may not know the royality.

Bob Baffert was not at fault. It is not like he is inconspicuous. He is the white-haired trainer of several Derby winners already. CD screwed the pooch on this one. The security for the paddock of the Derby should have walkie-talkies to the management staff. This shouldn't have been more than a "Baffert has an extra." Management says " let him the hell in then!"

Even at the level I am involved in this game and the horror thaat is Magna. We have brought up to 8 people to a free 4 person luch when you run in a listed stakes and they comp it all. For twice the allowed number of people. CD should have kissed Baffert's a$$ for even making him upset at the Derby. If I am Baffert, next time I have a super horse and the racing secretary from CD calls him up to see if I'll run in their race, I wouldn't even answer the phone.

Still not an excuse. Do you think Baffert has enough brains and compassion to think, " hey wait a minute, this poor dude does not know me from Adam and has been told not to let anybody in. He has been given rules and the guy is just following them..." ? or he just does not care?

Sometimes you got to have a little class and think about the position some people are put in while doing the jobs they have been told to do. Thats civility and courteous.

well the rent a cops are former state troupers not exactly a rent a cop..they have a job to do..yes he should have been extended the privlage..but the gaurd was just doing his gig..whatever..

Baffert was much too kind, he only ripped the badge off the jerk.

You obviously have not been in charge of getting head counts for folks you know who are going to show up at a race. They sneak out of work and didn't let you know or they bring a co-worker(boss) to the race. The responsibility is on the track to kiss the owners and trainers a$$es. The owners and trainers are the customers of the track. Without the owners and trainers there would be no track. The customer is always right!

You, my friend need to get off your high horse and understand the facts. Having class is saying good luck to the other owners and trainers and then accepting the outcome of the race in a dignified manner--WIN or LOSE.

The guard was just doing his job. Telling Baffert yes it not worth losing his job over.

That is the problem. Baffert wasn't thinking of the little guy.

But then again this country lets OJ get away with murder, MJ with child abuse, etc... Why shouldn't Bob be able to get what he wants?

IMO, Bob could have handled the situtation with more tact. I like the guy, but he could have went about the situation a different and I think that is why he is apologizing.
