What happened to Barbaro was terrible, but it wasn't Magna's fault.
Well stated. Agree.
More than a bit of a stretch in linking those things.

Sumitas,
I don't see the link to Magna with Barbaro's injury...
but I DO agree that NY racing has huge problems.
That huge takeout goes to fund the state's operating budget.
NYRA has done their share of damage but, seems to me, they've been against the wall for a long while.
And the "politics" continue....stupid, stupid stuff.
They'll wreck it with their wrangling...

Yupper, 2 purely political appointments as a payback. These are the types of people in charge of horse racing in NY. Pathetic.

Pathetic!!!
At least now that the curtain has been pushed aside, some of the organizations that have a lot to do with NY racing will come in to show some outrage about this charade.
Rile 'em up! (owners, breeders, farms)
Make 'em answer for the nonsense (politicos)
Muck the stalls...cause if ya don't ...the stink gets very bad fast.

So, who do you think Magna is buying?

I also thought they put barbaro back in the gate much to quick without the benefit of a vet looking him over. It looked like all Stronach cared about was the handle by putting him back in the gate as fast as they did.

I don't know who called the shots regarding that, but I thought Barbaro was put back in too quickly as well. JMO.

Arrogant Austrian can't pass on soon enough for me.His legacy will be the poor redesign of the course at Gulfstream. You'll notice this guy will always say he had no part in these decisions(whatever it is that is f'd up by Magna.)Don't let this Nazi Youth type get ahold of your racing in New York. You will end up paying more, and getting less anytime this guy is involved.

So he was put into the gate too fast...AND they had time to call Stronach and get his personal direction for the decision?

No offense to you personally. I just found your post the easiest to use to make my point.

People with an agenda will always find some justification. Frank Stronach caused Barbaro to break down. And is a Nazi to boot. None of that is over the top. Not at all.

I guess he should count himself lucky he isn't Arab. At least he isn't (so far) being blamed for 9/11.

the vet at the track said he did look barbaro over. that many at home watching may not have gotten the impression that he did, but that he did check out the horse. i really thought this issue would be put to rest by now. dr richardson himself said the gate had nothing to do with the injury. why is it still being pushed as an issue?
