It will be interesting to see what the Beyer comes back for the winner. It's been five years since a winner of an Oaklawn Park maiden race has run a triple digit Beyer. A horse named Medeglia D' Oro won by 4.25 lengths in an Oaklwan Park maiden race in Feb of '02. Getting his 6 furlongs in 1:10 4/5ths that day, and earning a 101 Beyer

He was sold privately after that race....and was transferred from the barn of David Vance into Bobby Frankel's barn.

He made his next start in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes---and was dismissed at an INSANE 8.5-to-1 odds---needless to say he won easily and ran a 107 Beyer.

How on earth could a horse who had run the fastest figure in the race, and was going from Vance to Frankel, have paid $19.00!?
For Godssake at least spell the name right, DrugS.
Medaglia D'Oro.

I always simply called him "MDO". Nice to see a spelling error of mine has led to your return Carla.

It seemed pretty cut and dry that it would have to be between a 105-to-108.

I'm sure this horse is now officially on the derby trail

a few years ago I was working the saratoga sale and he kept coming back to look at my favorite yearling (who had also been my fav. foal, as he was out of my fav. mare ) it was pretty much a given that he was going to buy the horse...and he did, we were all (the employees that is, I have no clue what the owner thought) disappointed that he got him...and that colt was thrown to the wolves on the derby trail last year...when he had neither the seasoning nor perhaps, the talent to compete at that level....

not realy relevant I know...
anyway, I'm not a big fan of D. Wayne.
