The 1 may win this, but I don't get how a 1 for 17 lifetime horse is 8-5 in ANY race.

Agreed. Not a very good chalk. But in some races, I'm not sure there really can be.

Normally I would complain going 4 deep and getting the chalk but this time I am relieved. He was a last minute inclusion.

I was wrong.

Didn't think the others would let him jog a 49 and 4 and a 1:14 and change either.

I don't think you were wrong. Horses have tried many many times and not been successful should rarely be bet as chalk.
