Steve and I, along with a bunch from the ESPN board almost privately bought a horse at Gulfstream earlier this year (ultra cheap claimer) but the trainer pulled out. I'd consider doing something. A bit tight financially for me right now trying to save to buy a condo.

I'm all over a grand for one. How would we split up the monthly cost and such? Where to base it at and who to train will be the easy part. I pay $25 for a trainer now and the monthly cost of feed is added to it. Usually somewhere's around 7 grand a year and she made has made a lot of it back. We're 50% owner in her.

i've already told tony i want to get involved in partnership(s) sooner the better....seems a good way to get into the game, more affordable, and spreads the risk.
however, anyone getting involved would have to understand exactly what they were getting into, and also how to get out if necessary. not something to be jumped into without some planning, info, etc.
maybe my 'someday' will be sooner rather than later...

Default Dutrow

Didn't Dutrow sit out of Saratoga for illegal substances found in his horse(s)... I believe a guy name Rodriguez took over for him.

Not so sure i would want someone like that as a trainer
Although it would certainly explain his high winning percentage
but not necessarily what is best for the animal...

Proceed with caution

Dutrow is the best trainer out there right now. If Lansdon has horses with him, that is enough for me

He did not sit out saratoga. His postive is the same as pletcher received a suspension for that he has appealed. Mepivicaine. An anesthetic. Not something you hop up a horse with. he won two breeders cup races after that and trained the HOY. Thast good enough for me.

Sorry to offend anyone. I just recalled that he was sent down for days and assumed that it had to do with something that wasn't totally kosher. Yes, he is a high percentage trainer and yes he has won Breeder Cup races, the numbers are the numbers.

This just brings up the fact that until we have uniform testing at all tracks many of these so called "high percentage" trainers will be coming under suspecion.

Is it fair to lump Dutrow, Frankel, Pletcher with Jennifer Pederson and Scott Lake. I don't know. Maybe they are all clean and maybe some of them are not....

I guess one would suspect that Pletcher should be a high percentage trainer with the best stock in the business and as Oracle 80 states he is just better than others.

I just want a level playing field for all participants and the only way to do this is to somehow have uniform testing ... still, there will be those who will try to get around the system.

Enough venting.
I hope Dutrow and Pletcher are clean as i hope everyone is. But i am not totally nieve either.

Jerry leave this sort of childish joking at the other site.
For the record, Seatlle was trying to make a joke, I do not buy horses for him.
