actually there are a number of reasons why we asked people to register...
for one it encourages new people to post, as registered members they can just spontaneaously respond rather than have to go through the process of registering before posting.
It limits the dispersal of information to registered members...we got tired of seeing posts lifted and posted at other boards to insult and ridicule Derby Trail.
If we ban or delete a member we know that that person no longer has access to the site.
The registration process has also cut down dramatically on the number of people here with multiple identities, since we now check IP's against current members before a new account is verified.
