Thanks to the offers from everyone. I know they are heart felt and if I need to take anyone up on them, I will comfortable doing so. Also, thanks to everyones thoughts and prayers. Needless to say, I have experienced a wide variety of emotions this morning.

I have been in the golf business for 17 years in the southeastern VA/northeastern NC area. I feel confident that I have forged a solid reputation in my line of work. I will dearly miss living at the beach, but things happen. Almost 1 year ago I was laying in the middle of a field for dead, but I survived that and this will be a piece of cake compared to that. GPK will bounce back.

Get your ass up here. Tim or I will pick you up at the airport, its no biggie. Screw it, you loved it here when you visited. No doubt a local course here would hire you, 3-4 month gig while you make new plans for the future. Then theres the track, lol, as an additional hook. Scram out of there.

That's good advice. Turn this into an opportunity to do something you really want to do!

Regardless of how you proceed, I'd be willing to bet significant bucks that 12 months from now you will be glad of the change.

Good luck to you!

Sorry Kev, it's not a cool thing to go through. Everyone has already given out all the good advice you'll need. I'll just say keep your head up and eyes open and the opportunities will present themselves.

On a lighter note, from reading all through the thread it sounds like you could line yourself up for quite a fun summer of travel. Traveling the country, sleeping on a variety of different rollout beds offered by DerbyTrailers, seeing all the great summer races, visiting friends along the way. Actually it doesn't sound too bad! lol

Don't worry, another job always comes along. Whatever you do, don't take an office job. Some pay great, but they are crap compared to working outside. If you are the guy with the bad back you should consider moving into the golf course maintenace jobs. My friend's father took care of a course in NY his entire life and he loved it and was doing it in his 70's. Don't know what they pay is, but it seemed like a great life.
