While I certainly believe the evidence presented by the bowls would lead most to believe that LSU is the second best team- maybe USC- it really doesn't matter. Put Boise up there if you can. They still haven't lost.

Bad month for the Michigan apologists. The whole argument about losing to OSU by only 3 made them deserving really blew up. As it turned out, OSU wasn't as great as they were made out to be.

Pretty stupid that had UCLA beat USC the Gators wouldn't have even got in the National Championship game. Especially ridiculous when you are in a conference with 8 of the best 30 teams in the nation. The sport needs a playoff and fast or the SEC will continue to be shut out of the national championship because it is so tough to go undefeated in that conference.

Well deserved championship. The big thing about a playoff is that all the bowl games could be incorperated into a playoff. A playoff would eliminate the uncalled for 40-50 day layoffs. A quality team that plays a tough schedule want be eliminated early in the season. It would put some meaning to all the insignificant bowl games, thus insuring sell outs because some of the early[most] bowls are a joke.

Everybody wants a playoff, but year after year we go without one.

I'd just like to thank the media for having somewhat of an influence on the betting lines. May their expertise spill over to the NFL Playoffs.

You can blame the Big Ten commish for that. Interesting article on ESPN.com yesterday about how much power he has. He basically said we will see a playoff once ratings and attendance start to fall but as long as they keep rising there is no need for one. So from now on I'm only watching college football games involving either a non-BCS team or a Big East team (since I know the other BCS conferences would love to kick them out). Any game involving a Big Ten team I will be especially careful to not watch. If enough people took this approach they might actually make the playoff a reality.

That's a half fair, half unfair argument. It certainly didn't help my argument that Michigan is still a better team than USC, but I don't think it told us that much about OSU except that they were not as good of a football team as Florida. OSU certainly didn't show up. Nobody can dispute that, so I'm not sure that this game somehow negates the rest of their season and makes them "not as great as they were made out to be." They had a pretty freaking good season and got figured out, and romped by one great football team. Half of their explosive offensive duo was out the entire game (after touching the ball once (?) and scoring 7 points with it.), and it was obvious that that hurt Smith's ability to work with the football.

I'm taking nothing away from Florida's performance last night, I explained that to Cajun right after the game -- there are no excuses, but there's also no reason to get all carried away with OSU being frauds.

I certainly don't believe that OSU is a fraud. Like I said with Michigan, that was not the same OSU we saw all season long. I believe in my heart, though that even if they HAD brought their "A" game, Florida would have beaten them. Florida wanted to win last night and they wanted it badly... I'm proud of my boys! I'm just happy for the SEC... I got so sick of hearing people say all season that our conference is overrated.

In case you don't remember, I told you that last night too when I congratulated you

Seven weeks ago, maybe. Saturday night, maybe. Last night? Not a chance.

Florida was not losing that game last night no matter what. It was anti-climactic though because it wasn't the game it should have been. (Ps, word is that Ginn hurt his foot on the touchdown CELEBRATION?! What a waste.)

I just wish Florida had to play Boise State now

I apologize for anything I said last night that was inappropriate. Believe me when I say it, I was freaking hammered.

"If Ted Ginn Jr. didn't get hurt OSU would've won 42-41 because he would've had 4 kickoff returns for td's. Boooooo hooooo i'm a big ten homer."

Oh no, it was fun -- I was actually surprised at how well you held yourself together discussing the game for as smashed as you were. You weren't even mean to me after I called you to taunt you after the first 16 seconds of the game (god I wish i could take that back )

The 51 day layoff thing is really bad. Thats like waiting 51 days (7 weeks) after the NFC & AFC Championship games to play the Super Bowl.

There is absolutely no reason to have any team wait 51 days to play their next game.

That being said, Ohio State stunk last night and I am glad they got beat, I hate the Little Ten. College football needs major revamping fast, its become very anticlimatic and leaves fans with tons of unanswered questions at the end the bowl season.

Remember what happened to the Detroit Tigers after sweeping the Oakland A's in the ALCS? They had several days off and that probably contributed to their demise in the World Series.

That game last night left me with, who cares about college football until a playoff system is put in place. Oh ya, congratulations Florida, now the champions in the 2 big sports.

OSU may not be a fraud but they've now lost nine straight bowl games against SEC teams. Michigan is a snapy 1-6 vs USC in the Rose Bowl since 1965.

A lot of people I know think the Big10 is overrated. I think they may be right. This years Big10 Bowl teams:

Purdue: lost 24-7 vs Maryland
Minn: lost 44-41 vs Tex Tech
Iowa lost 26-24 vs Texas
Penn St beat Tennessee 20-10
Wisc beat Ark 17-14
Mich lost to USC 32-18
OSU lost 41-14 vs Florida

I recall last year The Big10 was 3-4 in bowl games.

What was the over/under in last night's game?

Appeared it was going way high but with only 7 points scored in the 2nd half, I bet the game went under.
