I probably won't be betting Monmouth Park...but I also rarely did to begin with.

I think the complaint that the Racing Commission or its staff doesn't have experience with horses is...misguided. I understand the complaint because the commission probably should have gotten feedback from jockeys and others on the rule. Not listening to them is just bad government. But they've made their decision and the question should be how do you get them to reverse it.

I think if trainers, jockeys, etc. really want to change this rule, they need to play the political game and get people with political influence to take up their cause. Now, maybe that is happening. I don't know. There are definitely some powerful people in New Jersey who are sympathetic to the people involved in horse racing. But writing op-eds for horse racing media, complaining on twitter, and so forth, all basically within the closed world of horse racing...I just don't think it will get them very far.
