A surprising number of very late scratches yesterday. The most noticeable was the gate scratch of Lexitonian in the Vanderbilt, but the late scratches of #5 Munnings Muse in race 2 and of #1A Bronzed in race 6 probably had a significant impact on the outcome. Both of the latter two were major contenders and also had an impact on the pace of the race. Perhaps this was caused by the very warm weather. If so, I'm afraid that today will be even hotter.

Lexatonian broke through the gate and scratched. Interestingly he's headed west:

After his gate scratch in yesterday's Vanderbilt Stakes, Lexitonian is shipping west for the Bing Crosby.
