The longshot that is intriguing to me is Mathematician. He has run OK in losing efforts on turf but switches to dirt and now under Asmussen. His only dirt try was as a two year old in December 2017 where he tired and finished 5th, losing to this year’s Woodford winner, Marconi. Since then, he’s been running nothing but turf routes, so he should in theory handle the distance...big question is whether he’ll like the dirt but Asmussen taking over gives me some hope. Probably too much to ask...but I definitely will have him included in some bets.
Maybe I’m looking too hard but it is hard for me to back a 2-5 ML horse who has never faced winners, is handling two turns for the first time,, gets a jockey switch, and has put in mostly middling works since the big win, even if he did wow in his maiden win and is a 1/2 to Accelerate.
Anyway, good luck!
