I have to admit I’m kind of surprised people actually watch all of the videos of the Derby and come away from watching it thinking MS was fouled. I’m not trying to offend anyone but that’s crazy.

Its amazing that people view each of the "latest" Derby videos and takes the most recent as the new, singular truth. It's as if all other previous angles are negated.

All one has to do to verify that WOW did or did not foul MS from behind prior to the latter veering out is to watch another angle(s) at the same point in time (you know, like the stewards are supposed to).

But I guess since no one has yet to sync 2 complementary angles together side-by-side, lazy people will continue to buy into the headlines of "indisputable evidence".

Insult, meet Injury

What an absolute travesty. What are the chances of someone gets 15 days out of an obscure infraction that the stewards didn't even see?

I’m in the camp that agrees with the DQ, but I see no reason to suspend him. Especially given the track conditions that day. Borderline absurd to suspend him, IMO.

Say what you want about the DQ this is most absurd ruling I've seen yet.

I finally watched the video. Freeze-framing at specific points on the turn to show that War of Will or Country House moves lanes doesn’t really prove anything. Not a bad attempt but I’m not sure it shows that the stewards were incorrect.

I've watched it from 3 different angles: Grandstand side, infield side, head-on. I wonder if there is an overhead shot? Seems like that might reveal whether the fault is Gafflione's or not?

what Tom said...this is unfair basically because the horse shied and ducked out and Luis was able to correct the horse's path very quickly...unfair to the jock, this wasn't an issue of purposely herding to gain an advantage. For the record and The Who Gives a $hit Club, I agree with the DQ

This is even more absurd...

Saez, who is currently riding at Belmont Park, was represented at the May 10 film review by Louisville, Ky., attorney Ann Oldfather. Oldfather, who was not allowed to address the stewards at the May 10 session, had presented the stewards with a video that made the argument other riders and horses caused or contributed to the foul. The stewards offered no assurances they would view the video.
