I saw that video on Comcast Wheel this morning...good way to start the morning...cup of coffee, delicious chocolate filled donut, brutal and barbaric hanging...they appeared almost casual, of course the masks were a nice touch as was the scarf-like item they put around his neck before the noose.
For some reason, the first verse of a song came to me:
"They're selling postcards of the hanging
They're painting the pastports brown
The beauty parlor is filled with sailors
The circus is in town
Here comes the blind commissioner
They've got him in a trance
One hand is tied to the tight-rope walker
The other is in his pants
And the riot squad they're restless
They need somewhere to go
As Lady and I look out tonight
From Desolation Row."

Another great site for videos, especially death and dismemberment videos, is http://www.liveleak.com. This site used to be Ogrish.com which always had the most graphic and disturbing videos I've ever seen. They showed the complete beheading of an American - very not cool
They have the video from an Arab TV station showing Saddam after he was hanged (although he's not still in the noose).

Scav, I would say "enjoy!" but that's just too creepy

Cajun,
When I first saw the title of this thread, "Saddam Hung", I expected that it would be a "tell all" from one of his previous mistresses. Hanged would be a better term.
Yes, "sickos" get some joy from this. Heck, I never liked the guy myself.
That said, there's more to come.

Now, let's put the real war criminals on trial.
Who cares what their mistresses claim?

saddam wasn't a real war criminal? or are you suggesting that his crimes pale in comparison to others more deserving of that title?

Call me a bleeding-heart liberal, but for as much of a despicable ******* as he was -- I still don't get any joy out of capital punishment for anyone. Not even him.

Brian,
But as you can tell from this thread, there is no shortage of bloodlust...lots of folks certainly enjoy a good killing!

It's one of those things like abortion where I have a very easy time seeing how people could disagree with me. I get the appeal to capital punishment, it seems reflexive -- I just don't believe in it.

However, he was a horrible human being, and if I believed in capital punishment, he would be first on my list of deserving people.

Yeah...certainly a monster by any measure...but also a human being. And his death changes nothing except perhaps increasing the violence in Iraq and worldwide. If some folks take solice in his death then I'm glad they've found a small measure of peace but in the end, it's just another killing! Those involved all wore masks...just like the terrorists...I understand the risk to their personal safety but still...what exactly was the difference between what is being showed on TV and the net today and those other murders by those we call terrorists?

3,000 American lives. Over 300,000 Iraqi lives to add to that.

With so many hundreds of thousands dead since he we deposed, I start to wonder when the cure becomes more deadly than the disease. I just don't understand anything in this world anymore.

(Not that I'm feeling sorry for him, mind you.)

i think about 2,000,000 iraqis and iranians died while saddam was in power, so there's still a ways to go.

and with all due respect, if you don't understand anything in this world anymore, you never understood it in the first place, because nothing has changed.
