It's not like he took a 9 YO $2500 claimer from Penn National and won the Apple Blossom with her. The horse was talented before she was in his care, you can't deny that. So he took the horse and made her even better, great, awsome all the best to DWL.

but your comment about him being the best thing to happen to Thoroughbred Racing is lose. A lot of people paved the way to Thoroughbred Racing before DWL was even a spec on the map.

No one said that the aforementioned quartet aren't/weren't good trainers, but none REVOLUTIONIZED the training business a la Lukas. That was the point.

LUKAS...There is NO substitute.

Just because a trainer doesn't publicly show emotion about an injured horse doesn't mean they don't care about it. So what if Todd Pletcher didn't sprint to Fleet Indians side with tears streaming down his face. He didn't look too happy in the photos of him by her side waiting for 30 minutes for the horse ambulance to get there. And anyone that thinks Wayne is absolutely heartless when it comes to his horses, needs to have the man tell you the story of Landaluce. He was cradling her head when she died. His eyes didn't look very dry while he told me that story.

Oh, and his face lights up just the same when you ask him about some of the champions he trained.

I remember reading somewhere that wayne said after Landaluce died he never let himself get emotionally attached to another horse...because her death affected him too much.

The fact that Lukas was extremely upset when Landaluce died, does not prove that he is not heartless. If I had a goose that laid golden eggs and I was extremely upset that the goose died, would that prove that I have a heart? That is absurd.

The guy is as heartless as any trainer I have ever seen. I'm not going out on a limb saying that. Pretty much everyone on the backstretch will tell you the same thing.

And at the same time if he hadnt sent her out to the track to train with a fever perhaps he may not have had to hold her head while she died.
