Kanthaka broke like poop, but ranged up nicely on the backstretch and into the turn before leveling out. I was hoping that he found more in the stretch, as he looked strong powering home last time out. I, as recently as the past week or so, was underwhelmed with this group of 3 year olds, but that’s certainly changed. Caught the Derby Fever and looking to make a sizable wager on Pool 3 Future tomorrow. Things are shaping up nicely, if you ask me, which you didn’t.

While I wish they would've have left the result alone, it's hard for me to be too upset. Finally, we have a true Derby prep with two serious horses. Here's to hoping they both come out of this race in good order and move forward off of this effort. Could be an excellent Santa Anita Derby, if Bob decides to stay. These two are clearly the head of their class. Great race. Just what we needed.

Now if only that could've been backed up by the Big Cap, as awful a race as it was this year, it still would've been awesome to go Kilroe-San Felipe-Big Cap. But I guess that's too much to ask.
Seriously, can we please work on this? It's so f#$%&$*$ stupid that we in So Cal can't figure this out on our biggest days of the year. I know there is a lot of fixing that needs to happen here in So Cal but I do believe the racing, when done right, is exceptional. This day could've been great. Even with the rain. But a 16K claimer and some whack ass allowance race! Come on. Let me play the big horses back to back and I'll wager much more. I promise. Add it to the list Mr. Ritvo.
