![]() Why not have the top half of the field (in order of the points acquired) pick their post position and then use the pill & pull method to determine the second half?
Seems like that would give incentive for connections to try to accumulate more points and help keep the top point getters from being stuck in bad slots.

![]() Because that's not fair. The connection's job is to get their horse ready for the Derby however they see fit. Why would you penalize someone for running in less preps if that is how they think their horse will best be ready to roll the first Saturday in May? Every horse in the field should have the same chance at getting a good post IMO
