Bayern retired, goes to Hill n Dale
Jay Privman

Bayern has been retired, owner Kaleem Shah just informed me in a text, saying "Bayern has given my family memories of a lifetime and I am grateful for that."

Bayern, by Offlee Wild, goes to stud beginning next spring at Hill n Dale Farm in Kentucky. He had a sensational 2014 campaign, highlighted by a win in the Breeders' Cup Classic, but was winless in five starts this year.

He was third today in the Awesome Again.

Wishing him a great career as a stud...he looked like he had lost his drive and determination in the stretch yesterday. He would have smoked this field in 2014 with that setup in the AA.....happy retirement Bayern

I thought he looked like that all year. It was the right thing to do

Liked Bayern last year, if for nothing else other than beating California Chrome and his connections twice late in the year.

He was obviously a different horse when he himself returned from a layoff this year.

Hoping he does well in the shed.
