Jim

You could tell it was her first win, she rode the horse through the wire and continued to hit it. That was after he exploded to a 15 length lead. Ridden out to win by 20

come on man! if the race had been 3 miles maybe they would have slowed it down a bit, but when the race is only 16 furlongs you need that horse to get into the bit right away or you are dead.

i wasn't aware of that, just like i also wasn't aware that you needed to use the whip to get the lead before the first turn when the race is two laps.

another funny thing was when Peter Berry said something like " and after 11 furlongs its still number 4...".

He may have been a "need the lead type" going 2 miles. I noticed that horse being ridden with the whip out of the gate. Hilarious.

it would have been really great if dave johnson had been doing the call there like he did for the west virginia derby.
he would have found some way to screw up which horses were battling for the lead out of the gate and it would have taken him all of the next 14 furlongs to get it straight.
then we would have been treated to a hurried "and down the stretch they come" for the only horse that had actually reached the stretch.
