Agreed.

I think, from what I've read on boards and racing sites, that people are confusing A.P. with Bayern.

A.P. doesn't need the lead, you can tell by watching him run.

We are still nearly 2 months away from the Derby, right now I just want the mystery of the short tail and name misspelling solved!

tail "mystery" solved:

on the McKathan Brothers Farm near Ocala, a fellow 2-year-old chewed off much of his tail. The culprit is believed to have been Mr. Z, another Zayat horse on the Derby trail.

"I saw him early in the year and he had a full tail," said Justin Zayat, who serves as racing manager for his dad. "I came back six months later and he had this tiny tail."

spelling "mystery" solved:

simply misspelled --- now you can start capping the derby

I love your absolutes about things far from proven. The only time he didn't control the pace, he got drowned.

I am not absolute on my assessment, but I am very confident.

Much like with how Bayern and Shared Belief turned out.

That's part of the fun of horse racing, no? Trying to foresee how a horse will perform under different conditions?

You make absolute statements, you made plenty about CA Chrome that proved incorrect, and that is what I find amusing.

I think he will rate successfully is hardly what you said.

I think he may prove an enormous disappointment. I hope he races enough for that to be proven one way or another. I'm skeptical of that too.

From Jennie Rees Courier Journal article:
Tale of the tail: The only flaw with American Pharoah might be that he has an inordinately short tail. But that's because on the McKathan Brothers Farm near Ocala, a fellow 2-year-old chewed off much of his tail. The culprit is believed to have been Mr. Z, another Zayat horse on the Derby trail, along with El Kabeir.
