That article is a fine example of misrepresenting stats. From the article:

Quote:
In 2013, for example, 62.4 percent of hate crime victims were attacked because of anti-Jewish bias, while 11.6 percent were victims of anti-Islamic bias.
I clicked the link in the article to the FBI article, but in fact, the 62.4 percent statistic refers to victims of religious bias, and they make up only 16.9 percent of total hate crime victims. Compared to 49.3 percent of total victims being targeted because of their race and of that 49.3 percent, 66.5 percent of the victims were targeted because they were black.

So that's wrong. Either the author was being disingenuous, or he's lazy.

I'm not sure what the point of including hate crime stats in the article was, other than basically saying, "Look! White men hate Jews even more than they do Muslims!" (since the average hate crime perpetrator is a white man), but good grief, if an article is going to deliberately misrepresent stats, the author should do a better job hiding it than this one did.

By "soon thereafter" you're referring to the Muslim slaves who were brought over and forcibly converted to Christianity by the slaveowners, I believe.

Dell, I just don't get the whole point of that op-ed. Muslims stepped foot on the New World before Columbus did. We have records of Muslims serving in the Revolutionary War. The first nation to recognize America as an independent nation was Morocco. Even if we didn't have records of those things, who cares? Islam is as diverse a religion as any other major religion and to lump all Muslims in with extremists is every bit as stupid as lumping all Christians in with white supremacists who assassinate abortion doctors and burn down synagogues.

If that op-ed writer wants to talk about Johnny-Come-Latelys to the country's history, he should talk about Italians and Irish. If you're judging how American someone is by how many generations of their ancestors have been on North American soil, then the average African American is much more American than the average Italian or Irish American.

(Full disclosure- three fourths of my family are Johnny-Come-Latelys.)

Reality folks, take off the PC blinkers

Quote:
In the U.S., violence directed towards abortion providers has killed at least eight people, including four doctors, two clinic employees, a security guard, and a clinic escort.
And this over the past 25 years

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-abortion_violence

Quote:
On November 5, 2009, a mass murder took place at Fort Hood, near Killeen, Texas.[1] Nidal Malik Hasan, a U.S. Army major and psychiatrist, fatally shot 13 people and injured more than 30 others.[2][3] The shooting produced more casualties than any other on an American military base.[4][5] Several individuals, including Senator Joe Lieberman,[6] General Barry McCaffrey,[7] and others have called the event a terrorist attack.[8][9] The United States Department of Defense and federal law enforcement agencies have classified the shootings as an act of workplace violence.[10]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Fort_Hood_shooting

9-11 resulted in the murders of 2,977 not counting the Muslim's that committed the atrocities.

The eight abortion murders represent 1/5 of 1% of the murders committed in the name of Allah and that's only including 2 days of attacks. The U.S. Army major killed almost double in the name of Allah in one day compared to all the abortion murders committed since 1990.

But that's the whole purpose of political correctness: shutting down corrective discourse about false social narratives. And the more tenuous the narrative, the more ferocious the political correctness.

And in the 1990s, Serbian Christians killed over 8,000 Bosnian muslims:

Quote:
At this point, some of the worst genocidal activities of the four-year-old conflict occurred. In Srebrenica, a Safe Haven, U.N. peacekeepers stood by helplessly as the Serbs under the command of General Ratko Mladic systematically selected and then slaughtered nearly 8,000 men and boys between the ages of twelve and sixty - the worst mass murder in Europe since World War II. In addition, the Serbs continued to engage in mass rapes of Muslim females.

That's reality. Take off your right-wing blinkers.

What's to like about Muslims?

Christianity is a splinter religion of Judaism. Islam is a splinter religion of Christianity.

They basically have the same prophets.

It's utterly hilarious that the Jews, Christians, and Muslims can't get along. They all buy into the same old fairy tales. Those people have everything in common.

The Jews just don't love Jesus like the Muslims and Christians do.

And the Jews and Christians don't love Muhammad like the Muslims do.

Other than that, Christians are like the 1st cousins of Jews. And Muslims are like the 2nd cousins of Jews and 1st cousins of Christians.

Stop arguing over your preposterous fairy-tales and try getting along.
