Default NY fans will remember this ol' warhorse

Not sure how I had missed this. Morine's Victory was a warrior. Wasn't he in that amzing race that Spooky Mulder ran in about 5 years ago?

Terrible he ended up there, but glad the story has a somewhat happy ending. He was a warrior on the track and ran well for years.

I feel like I bet him years ago in the slop at Belmont while he was with Allen Jerkens. Norberto Arroyo rode and he won the race, only to be DQ'd because of a bonehead move by Arroyo. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else, but I think it was him.

He was in NY in early winter. I wonder if NY is going to look into his path to a killpen. They do have a rule banning it but thus far I don't think it's been used.

I did a search on MV on DRF and it mentions that Spooky Mulder race and MV was in it. Can't find video though.

It was definitely Arroyo, I just don't know if I have the right horse. BTW probably remembers.

You're sure right I know the race you're talking about but I can't remember if it was Morine's Victory. I think it was the 8th race....and think I was plenty pissed.

I knew you'd remember it. I think we've talked about it before.

This could be the next horse featured during an ATR commercial break

"This grey horse had 21 Wins and finished in the money 41 times in 78 starts, earned $598,000, and ended up in the kill pen headed for the slaughterhouse. We must take care of our own..."

Hearty kudos to Jill Marshall for giving him a new lease on life.

Let me say first that I am a HUGE FAN of Horse Racing! Since I found this sport my whole life has changed for the better. I Always will be a passionate lover of this game! It's the best sport on god's green earth!

I am new to the game though so if I come across as ignorant on what I am about to say please know that it's not meant to offend the sport.

This story is absolutely disgusting! This horse should never have wound up in a kill pen! No horse should in my opinion!

Last night I read this article and it just about ruined my entire day! I am glad this horse found a place to live out the rest of his days. I am glad that he is being showered with affection and love!

But this is not right! Horse racing is constantly asking what do we need to change? Is it drugs that need to be changed? Should the Triple Crown be extended so that a horse has a better chance of winning? Should we race less days during the week? Do we need to form a governing body, etc. I don't know what the sport needs to do. But for the love of God this has to stop! You wouldn't treat a family dog this way! I am not trying to be sentimental because I know it's a business but come on! Racing slaughter needs to stop! Horses deserve better than this and I hope more than anything that race horses are no longer slaughtered in the U.S. Like that commercial says "we must take care of our own!"

I know that this sport is full of great people and this does not reflect the entire industry. The fact that this horse was just tossed aside is awful. Just awful.

Morines Victory DEFINATELY raced in NY this winter...at least 2 times in 2011.
I follow NYRA everyday.

The last trainer was Neil Terraccino...a bottom feeder. No surprise.
He had Morines Victory for at least the last year.

But, the story will go..."he gave him to a friend that had a farm..."

We need more people like you, with your sensibilities, in the game.
