It could also be because the feds figured they can't make the case for it. Baldwin's assault charges have been downgraded from hate crimes (since the victims were all Jewish, that was why the initial charges were brought) so I'm guessing the NYPD figures it can't make the case for hate crimes.

You must see the irony in what is essentially a copycat crime getting enhanced charges and Federal attention because of an admission. A little Barney Fifeish to me.

The referral to black on Jewish assaults as a 'game' is disgusting.

The interviews done with 'game attendees' actually witnesses and their callous, soulless, morally bankrupt responses lends us a glimpse into their minds. Yet because of intentional ignorance, black on Jewish assaults 'how the game was originally intended' are not considered hate crimes.

The problem with hate is it's not an action. Murder, bank robbery, forgery and even ID theft are all easily definable and measurable actions making it possible to prove them without admission.

Murder with a firearm as opposed to a knife is easy to discern and prosecute. Murder with or without hate is nearly impossible without a verbal or written confession.
