Ironically, 3yos finished 1-2 in the Jockey Club Gold Cup that year. I think another 3yo was even favored in the race (Diazo).

Of course, those same two 3yos were last and second last in the BC Classic in their next start. Kissin Kris was able to get 3rd place to save some face for the 3yo crop at least.
