The inside of the ankle on that leg stays pretty swollen most of the time because of the way I walk. I told this doc about my ankle and he immediately thought the lump could be a blood clot. He sent me to get an ultrasound, which was normal. When I went back to see him to determine what the next step was, he got pissed because he thought I was questioning his judgment. He has a history of mental problems and proceeded to have a freaking nervous breakdown in the office. He then told me that if the lump was cancer, it would have killed me. Then he pulled the cover his ass move by insisting that I get a MRI to "make myself feel better." I told him the MRI was to make himself feel better. I ended up getting the MRI, which cost about $600, took two hours, and was normal. Years later a doctor who deals with sports injuries told me at a party that the lump was probably a herniated muscle and the doctor was a dumbass for not referring me to a specialist. It is probably nothing and you probably are better off not going to a doctor. But if your calf feels hot and is swollen, go to an ER and get an ultrasound.
