Default Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe

Is it really true that Deep Impact, Hurricane Run, and Shirocco will all be running on Sunday? Wow! Are these the 3 best turf horses in the world? I don't know a lot about the history of the Arc, but this has to be possibly the best field ever just based on those 3. Does anyone know if all 3 will be here on Breeders Cup day? Finally, people have posted video links to past races in Europe. Can someone post a link for this race on Sunday (I don't think it is televised, or is it?)?

TVG will televise it live, and many OTBs simlucast (hub is usually Arlington).

The Arc has been around since 1920. Before WWI, the biggest international race in Europe was the Grosser Preis von Baden, but the French were not about to go to the Enemy Country to prove their horses and so created their own international race. It typically has Derby and Oaks winners from several countries as well as top older horses and mares. For instance, in the 1968 running, Vaguely Noble defeated Sir Ivor (English Derby and 2000 Guineas), Roseliere (French Oaks), La Lagune (English Oaks), Ribero (Irish Derby, English St. Leger), Carmarthen (Prix Ganay), etc. Both Ribot and Sea-Bird made fields full of classic winners look ordinary. Modern transporation has somewhat diluted the fields of late, since the options of the Canadian International and BC Turf provide an alternative to those who are wary of the possibility of very heavy going one often finds at Longchamps this time of year.

Yes, the Arc is huge! Others have posted the particulars...I'd just add that imo, the biggest races in the world are:
Breeder's Cup Classic
Dubai World Cup
Arc
Japan Cup
Kentucky Derby
Some will make a good argument that other BC races, especially the BCT belong on this list, as would several British races and the Irish Derby, I would like to see the Melbourne Cup get more attention as well...but those 5 stand out to me!

The softer the ground, the more Shirocco will like it. Won the German Derby in a bog.

Most of Deep Impacts races are on Youtube. Just search for Deep Impact. I watched them today.

This is a very fast and impressive looking horse. Don't be fooled by the foreign language call...over there he is 'Deep-uh Impacto' and he's the horse in front flying to the finish line.

Are you talking about the one in Fern Park on 17-92 or the Sanford Kennel Club?

I'll probably head up to the one in Fern Park. I think they're showing it.
