Default Greyhound Vs. Coyotes.

This article is upsetting on many levels. Hunting is one thing, this seems very different.

They'll probably find a way to make it a pay for view blood sport.

Disgusting.

As a Greyhound owner/adopter, I don't have the stones to read that article as I have a feeling I know where it goes. They are such sweet and loving dogs without a mean bone in their body that it hurts to think of them abused. All they want is to be loved and to take over every bed in your house.

The article is about greyhounds used to hunt coyotes. It is worth the read.

I have mixed feeling towards the article. Obviously not thrilled with the danger that the dogs are in. But on the otherhand he seems like he really cares about and tries to take care of all the dogs. Obviously the Coyotes are a real threat if the government is trying to hunt them as well by not exactly using the most humane ways to eliminate them either.
I think I would actually feel better about it if he had a farm/barn that kept getting terrorized by Coyotes. If the Coyotes kept killling his animals and affecting his bottom line. I'll even go as far to say if he was charging other farm owners for the service that he could provide. I kind of look at that as being justified (protecting your buisness). But it bothers me that he does it and calls it a sport, then it means all the death/danger to the dogs and coyotes seems unnecessary.

I'm sure I am part of the very small minority that isnt bothered by this or any other types of hunting. Horses and dogs have been used for all of history to hunt... including for sports like Fox Hunting. Its too bad dogs dont hunt deer.

I'm also cruel enough to believe that Horse Slaughter is neccessary as long as people keep breeding horses at crazy rates. Just like the millions of dogs that have to be put down every year because of over breeding. Its sad that people breed dogs and horses so much that there arent enough people out there to care for them. That is the problem, not slaughter. Of course it should be done in the most humane way possible.

Kind of off topic but goes with the animal theme in this thread.
