That's a tough break for Tim Ice and Dr. J. Glad to hear the horse is okay relatively speaking.

Yeah, that's pretty much my feeling. The ONE 3yo (male) I was really excited for next year for.
But the word on DRF isn't as bad as what we had originally thought...

Good he is (supposedly) OK. But, personally, I was never excited about him. I was just praying he wouldn't embarrass the U.S. In fact, I think it is pathetic he will win an Eclipse award. He is barely above average.

"Summer Bird is a leading candidate for 3-year-old champion. He has won 4 of 9 starts and $2,323,040."

4 of 9 gets you an Eclipse? I would like to submit RA for DNA testing so she can get the 3yo award also.

You mean like Tiger Woods is in serious condition, when in reality, he just got his ass kicked by his wife after he was caught cheating on her?

Yup. I'm looking forward to the canned statement that comes out of that household where, undoubtedly, they're getting their stories straight at this very moment. Still time to formulate more jokes--any involving the word "driver" have apparently been done, I think the next should involve Tiger's distraction+wreck happening because his wife forgot to yell "fore!" before she nailed his back window with the club. Just a thought.

I'm glad SB's injury isn't as bad as we thought, and I hope he's still on target for a 4yo campaign, in part because he's a nice horse, but also because I like good things happening for Tim Ice. Fingers crossed. SB still gets a chance to try to be the best horse Kent Desormeaux rode!

I don't know. The first report was pretty detailed if the quotes are accurate. Wasn't Tim Ice on the scene?

Not sure if the owner was in Japan as well, but he certainly didn't offer up as much info as Ice did.

Of course, there's always the possibility that he suffered both injuries.

The one that was reported and required screws? Technically it is a chip fracture, but seldom separate in the joint.

Nobody wins here, just a bad reporting job. Maybe they can do better with following Tiger Woods.
