Default Saratoga Wagering Menu Changed (a little bit)

New this year will be rolling daily doubles (the wager will be offered pending approval by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board.).

I am glad to see this bet added to the menu at the Spa. This made me wonder what bets you find yourself playing the most and why?

For me , I am a big fan of the picks 3 and 4 but from an economic standpoint, the takeout makes the double and exacta better values (17.5%). WPS remain at 14% but I love multi-race wagers.

Actually, because of dispersal, it is relatively the same to bet a double at 17.5% as it is to bet a Pick-3 at 25%. The Pick-4, at 25%, is the best of the three choices.

Im still trying to show a profit with my win bets.

Very good way to see who is going to take action the next race, at least it is at CD. i.e the R Nicks firster today. Took tons of action in the DD they came on the board at 1-1 and stayed there until the Assmu took all the late $$, the Nicks ended up paying $8.40

Was going to say that as well. The Pick 4 and Pick 6 are actually the best value in terms of takeout in multi-race wagers.

ok this might sound crazy, and maybe its not even the place to ask this, but i have a question !

the guy above said he is still trying to have a positive return on his win bets, depending on how you look at it, cant you actually make more money and have a better ROI, playing pick 3 and 4 then you would have, by making just win bets. when you make a win bet you bet 1 horse, when you play pick 3 and 4, you can go as many deep as you wish, therefore isen't it almost easier to cash a pick 3 or 4 ?

Im honored you refer to me now as "the guy above".
I read in one of DRF books that Andy is in, 'if you cant make a profit betting to win you are gonna have a hard time making money in exotics.' I think it was six secrets of successful bettors/
I think it boils down to betting too many races, being a once-twice a week guy without an internet acct. I'll usually play 90% of the races at Bel and CD, such as today.

im sorry JACK, but i disagree, i seem to struggle when it comes to picking 1 horse to win a race, but i can put in a 2-2-2 pick 3 and do well, or a 3-3-2-2 pick 4 and hit for almost 10k, and a lot of ppl would not even consider that going deep, so its not like you can say im just tossing any or all horses in, i used to go to the track or otb and only make win/place bets, now 95% of my bets are pick 3 and 4

Yeah, especially compared to the 60% takeout for the lotto.

Any idea what they are doing with supers this year? I read one story in which it seemed that they were only going to have a super on the 9th race. Is this correct? What about dime supers as well?
