Default Wait! Bloomberg says state NOT taking OTB

Oh! Gee... Now that the mayor sees that someone is willing to take over NYC OTB, he wants to know why the city doesn't get to keep the $18 million surcharge... This is rich. The gall on display by Bloomberg is amazing and the fact that the mainstream media REFUSES To give a correct accounting of City OTB's finances is remarkable.

Hegarty, as usual, right on top of the hijinks for DRF...

When you have a businessman for a mayor, it's all about taking money in and not giving anything back in terms of service. The dude looks good when it comes to the books but he absolutely sucks when it comes to thinking about the quality of life for those living in the area.

Yeah. Bring back David Dinkins.

It would be nice if one person besides Matt Hegarty got the amount of revenue from the surcharge correct.

"Although the negotiations went down to the wire, they produced an agreement that truly belongs in the winner's circle," Bloomberg said. Clap.. Clap. One horrific pun would've sufficed Mikey.

In that article in mentions that it was created to thwart "private bookies" in 1970. How much of a problem was that before 1970?-and compared to now?

Personally I think y'all need an off-course tote monopoly and on-course bookmakers.

Down the Australian route rather than the British or Irish-but tracks could take a leaf out of the British book and have a pitch auction. Everyone wins. Entry fees to tracks stay low. Thousands of bettors will return to the tracks....
