![]() It seems to me like there is some value in Always First at 8/1. He closed into absolutely no pace and prevailed in his last start at Arlington, and really hasn't run a bad race since switching barns. EC is certainly the class of this field and the most likely winner, but Always First could be a good play at a price.

You have to love the logic of the connections though: What do you do with a horse that has failed to hit the exacta in FOUR consecutive G3s? Well you stick him in a G1 of course! By the way, here are the past performance: http://www.drf.com/row/pps/07sworddancer.pdf |

![]() WTF was that all about?!? Since when the hell does EC start running his best race from that far back?? Almost 10 lengths back after the first 6 furlongs?? I would love to know what JV was thinking taking him back that far. Was it Pletchers idea? A grade 1 race surely aint the damn time to try a different type of running style.

'Cole...I missed the race yesterday. I just got back from a weekend at the lake, so it was the first chance I had to watch the replay. I knew that he had finished second since I had talked to Bethani and Hooves, but I was shocked to see him taken back so far. Really strange. Hope you are doing well. |

Kev, he looked like he was being strangled back by JV going into the first turn and down the backstretch. His head was up higher than I've ever seen him run. I think he wasted alot of energy in the first half mile because of that. I didn't think he'd even get 2nd after that. Ran better than I thought. Don't know what they were thinking but don't count him out of the BC Turf yet. Doesn't he have a fondness for the Monmouth turf course? |
