Default Rags to Riches/Belmont try?

Does anybody else find it comical that she is 5/2 on the ML?

What do you all think she will go off at?

Default Rags may run in the Belmont

Here's the scoop -- read all the way down:

http://www.drf.com/news/article/84695.html

Now tell me that Pletcher doesn't think that maybe he should have run her in the Derby. He may not admit it publicly . . .

Yeah, I know . . . Beyer 110 for Street Sense and 104 for Rags. Tell me when you can make money betting 6 point Beyer differences Or betting Beyer figures at all. Bet any Beyer figure you want . . . last highest . . . highest lifetime . . . you name it and it is a sure way to the soup line.

Rags cooked a 1:49 and change in serious slop. Finished in 12.19. Didn't have a dream rail trip on a fast track.

That's a running machine.

I hope she runs in the Belmont.

I hope she does too and unless something happens in a workout between now and then, we get our wish in 5 weeks. Todd and Mike are playing it coy, this horse is shipping to Belmont Sunday to begin preparation.

Belmont a bad place to run a filly first time against the boys...in the entire history of the race, only two fillies have won...Ruthless in the very first running at Jerome Park in 1867 and Tanya in 1905 when the race was run at 10 furlongs! Strange place to try her...is Pletcher getting desperate?

She's got the best 12-furlong pedigree of any of his 3-year-olds and may be faster than any of them too. If that's the case, why not send her?

Coolmore doesn't need Street Cry getting a Triple Crown winner in his first crop.

Spoiler time.

I wouldn't be surprised if the entire American arm of Coolmore shows up.

I am repeating this information, by the way. Heard it somewhere else

I agree. It is actually a "sporting" move. She has nothing to lose. Why not?

The last filly I remember in the Belmont was Shug sending out My Flag to finish third to Editor's Note and Skip Away.

Default Jazil's half sister

I don't know if anyone has posted this but Rags is the half sister to Belmont winner Jazil (who can be traced back to Colin)

Maybe they will run her in the Belmont
it probabl depends on whether or not Street Sense can get it done in Baltimore

I believe that while Rags is a half to Jazil, Jazil was bred a bit better to go the Belmont distance... JMO.

Well, I think looking at pedigrees, Jazil would be suspect for stamina (obviously not), certainly Rags has a more stamina-laden sire side, AP Indy was about as well bred as a horse can be imo. Since I feel stamina comes mainly from dam side, I have to conclude they are equal. This has been argued back and forth forever here, I simply think the Belmont is an odd place to try the best 3yo filly in training against the boys...two winners in history, neither at 12 furlongs. If I was gonna run my filly against the boys at three...I'd probably look at the Preakness after a prep in the SA Derby or Blue Grass. Honestly, I'd prefer to wait for something at four...maybe the Donn...then consider races such as the Whitney later in the year...just my preference. Of course, now days, most quality horses are retired by then.

I must be a nut then... I bet Jazil in the Belmont BECAUSE of his pedigree.

And a horrible opinion it is.....

Come on Cajun, A.P. Indy might go down in history as the best high-profile distance stallion in a long time.

Bernardini, who had never ran beyond a mile in his career, and was making his two-turn debut in the '06 Preakness...improved his form markedly in that race, and in all distance races from that point forward.

A.P. Indy has been bred to many distance challenged dams, and those matings have produced foals who've thrived routing.

The stats I have are one year old, but I have an average winning distance of 8.3 furlongs for offspring of A.P Indy. Compared to 7.3 furlongs with Seeking the Gold.

A. P. Indy is always the first stallion that comes to mind when you think of a sire that produces high quality, late developing routers. Horses like Mineshaft, Bernardini, Aptitude, Golden Missile, Master Command, etc.

As a racehorse, A.P. Indy was also a true distance horse, winning the Belmont himself. Seeking the Gold, while an EXCELLENT race horse, never won beyond 9 furlongs.

You know, are her speed figures really that good? This field looks more competitive than I initially thought...

I wouldn't take less than even money in this race.

She will not be a single on my P4 ticket.

Rags To Riches is no lock. This is a very good field with very competitive speed figures. I think that 5/2 in a 14 hore field is about right. I really like Octave in here.

I have a strong feeling she may regress off the SA efforts when faced with a real horse race. IF she runs her race, it's all over, she will win by 3, but if she takes a step or two back and another takes a step forward, suddenly the event becomes a lot different.

Those eligible to move forward at a price (taking into account the mile and an eighth, pace, etc.): High Heels, Dreaming of Anna, Tough Tiz's Sis, Autobahn Girl, Sealy Hill.
