I was a huge Proud Tower Too fan and was so happy when they kept Cohen up for Dubai.

This jockey hardly ever gets any notice at all and, since it's a(nother) slow Monday and being a fan of Caracortado (even though it looks like he'll go to the Preakness)...

I never make excuses for any horse (at least I try not to) but I am kinda wondering about Saturday and what might have been - just in a fleeting way.

How much loyalty is there in racing?

Being a newer fan than most of you David Cohen is my point of reference.

Anyone want to share a story of loyalty or maybe one of its polar opposite?

Most loyal? Biggest back stabber?

Paul Atkinson sure had his fans and supporters in the paddock and trackside at Santa Anita on Saturday.

I heard more "shout outs" of support for him than I did any other horse or jockey in the field.

Racing is about doing the best you can in relation to everyone else. Doesn't matter what aspect you're talking about. Nothing else is important. I think being contrarian and especially finding ways to either cheat or gain an edge through very hard work are most key.

General life is about having food, drink, sleep, and something to do that makes you feel good. You could probably get all four of those things in a prison cell .. although certainly not quality food, quality drink, quality sleep, and quality activites that make you feel good.

Actually, back when he was like 17 or 18, he used to insist that his goal in life was to have a bunch of kids by his mid 20s and then die at the age of 29.
