The problem is that the head of the CIA was so profoundly stupid and careless about this in the first place. A person in that job should have impeccable integrity and not be so easily manipulated or caught. Being that the entire organization exists to gather intellegence and use leverage and other means to do that, a pretty obvious affair with a relatively unstable woman seems to be a stunningly ignorant move for a man in that position. I'm not naive enough to think that many men in positions of power (or otherwise) arent unfaithful to their spouses but for a guy like Petraeus who seemed to be an ideal candidate for the job to be so amatuerish is scary. I'm sure Mr Putin is having a good laugh over this.
i just don't see it, sorry. he had an affair. it wasn't and isn't a matter of national security.
as for putin, i recall when clinton had his peccadilloes being bandied about, that much of the rest of the world was saying 'what's the big deal?'.

is it odd timing? sure. but then, i doubt there's ever a good time for the wife of 37 years to find out something like this. he was a powerful man, and powerful men do stupid things, just like the rest of us. but luckily for the rest of us, no one cares what we do.
