otoh,go by rankings, you have conferences with no representation at all. right now bcs rules prohibit having multiple bcs bowls with teams from one conference. that's why arkansas didn't get a bcs bowl this year-two teams from the sec were already going.
so-do they want the best teams, or go by division winners? either way, some teams will get left out, some will get in who 'don't deserve it'. so, still not exactly 'fair'. if you go by rankings, you still have people voting to help control their opponent, or their own ranking. saban voted okla state lower than anyone else place them, which helped his team remain in second by a razor-thin margin. ok st coach gundy didn't even have a vote.

A playoff will bring in far more money than the current system. It isnt even really debatable. The problem is a few people currently are calling all the shots and people hate to concede power. There is no perfect system but one where the 8 best teams make it in regardless of affiliation is a start. If you want to use some sort of a poll and computer mix you could start by using a far better and more transparent computer system and polling system. This is so simple on the surface. Sure you have contracts to deal with and will probably have to still tie in the big bowls as sites but it can be done. The BS about the coaches liking the bowl system is ridiclous. And I still dont know why if there is a playoff the other **** bowls cant still be played? What really changes is the BCS bowls are simply what they should be, steps to the final destination. Seriously if you make the Fiesta, Orange, Cotton and Gator/ Capital One Bowl/Chick fil-a bowl the 1st round, The Sugar and Rose bowls the 2nd round the the NC game the college Super Bowl what is the problem?
