Oh So Awesome

I've followed this guy's progression...er...regression since last year's Belmont. Today he looked awful in an allowance in Florida. I wonder about this guy.

I honestly don't think I have ever seen a trainer who runs more logical type horses, at short prices, that perform miserably than John Kimmel.

I liked him a lot in the Belmont. It's a shame he's running so terribly.

Pardon my edit, I felt a slight clarification would underscore your point.

Man, that's sad -- I thought he ran a hell of a race in the Belmont and thought he'd go on to do good things on either surface.....apparently not.

You're right.

What's interesting, and what makes your point stronger, is how successful Kimmel was ten plus years ago with cheap horses he bought to crank up and sell. When he started getting more expensive horses, say when Waxman was his client, he really became disappointing.

They killed that guy, other than that one Storm Cat filly (her name escapes me at the moment) every horse they bought for that guy was an expensive disaster worse than the last. Very scary, that started a consistent pattern of that.

He is capable of doing a good job, as his work with Premium Tap attests.

I hope so, Circle E bought some pretty sweet bloodstock last year!

True, and I am sure he knows how to be a good trainer, but he has orchestrated many disappointments in the past decade. His horses, in general, seem to underperform on a relatively consistent basis.

I agree completely with this.

It was an emotionally potent moment.

Virtual stable mail just came in and Kimmel did work Mr. Sidney, the 3/4 to Bluegrass Cat, today at Payson Park.

Wasnt he one of the trainers that they were investigating for receiving commisions for selling as well as buying for his clients?

I don't believe so.
