SAT - Magna 5 , GP (FOY), Sham, & TP

Magna 5

Leg A - LRL R9 - Clm 10k (10-9)

#5 Home Skillet - Makes 4th start of '09 and looks to benefit from the drop & 7/8ths.
#3 D'lightful Appeal - Graduated at this level and seems to enjoy the rail.
#2 Temple Run - Similar angles to #5 HS - Drops and cuts back. SCRStablemate WON
#8 The Juice Is Loose - Has shown speed routing, but must rate to be affective here.

Leg B - SA R4 - Clm 40k (40-35)

#4 Valiant Effort - Ellis runner figures to sit right off the pace and pounce.
#5 Return of the King - Coming off a win at this level, obvious contender. Featured in "Jockeys" Animal Planet horse racing show on Friday night.
#3 Steady Demand - Most recent outing was a win by a nose going 6 1/2 in a race that was taken off the turf. Will probably need to stalk behind frontrunners once again.

#11 Quality Road - Talented runner get 8lbs from top contenders, adds lasix, and is outside of the other speed. Must rate and the price is right. WON
#9 Capt. Candyman Can - Seems to always fire and should have a similar trip to his G2 Hutcheson victory.
#7 Beethoven - Turns back from 9 furlongs in the G3 Holy Bull where he was jeopardized by the outside post. Off the pace threat.
#2 Theregoesjojo - Showed he can pick up the pieces in latest and should be passing tiring rivals.

Leg D - GG R4 - Alw 30k N1X

#6 Mim's Man - Claimed by Hollendorfer after his 6th straight victory in a row. Interesting story as he broke his maiden for $8k and now finds himself as the favorite in an Allowance race. Has an advantageous post position with his main rival drawing the rail.
#1 Game of Luck - Holds a nice streak of his own, 6 out of 7 and 5 out of 6 at Golden Gate Fields.

Leg E - SA R5 - Clm 40k (40-35) Turf

#7 Welken - Makes 1st career turf start after finishing 2nd at 19-1 odds a couple of week ago. She must be doing well for Robbins to swing her back into action this quick.

welkin

Gus, i went back and look at the single in the last leg, i thought the ticket was a little different than you normally play, it's agressive, and if you hit you might have one of only a couple of tickets very nice ticket for $72.

CSC 02-28-2009 12:52 PM

U.S Treasury should have been a gift to anyone who took him in the second, the "off Jermaine Bridgmohan" has to be an angle for all serious handicappers.

CSC 02-28-2009 01:18 PM

Nice call Gus!

Bogey 02-28-2009 05:08 PM

Thanks, Mclem, Sdjcom, & 3 Kings.

It's been awhile since I had a day like this. I hope some jumped aboard on DT and ATR.

gales0678 02-28-2009 05:10 PM

good daybogey

hurricanefrank 02-28-2009 05:44 PM

outstanding 'capping job! You were DIALED IN at GP. Hope you made a bundle!

Kasept 02-28-2009 05:48 PM

Tremendous work today Gus... Congrats on all the strong looks, especially in the stakes.. (And wish I had used the Pletcher in the nightcap!)

Bogey 02-28-2009 06:39 PM

Thanks Gales

Thanks Frank, I need to take a suitcase to Bookie Magee's on Sunday, J/K, but I will need my SSN card and some deep pockets.

Thanks Steve, it was just one of those days. Nice run yourself in the Magna 5and GP PK4

Affirmatif, I didn't think he would win by a pole, but I really liked the works coming in and I usually play Unbridled Song's 1sters.

Max Caidy 02-28-2009 09:53 PM

Great job at GS!!!! I always appreciate help w picks but I especially appreciate your thoughts behind the picks.

Congrats!

declansharbor 02-28-2009 10:00 PM

Gus...Great job on tabbing Quality Road in the FOY. I like his chances as well but not enough to put him on top. Looked like a monster pulling away at the beginning of the stretch. Nice day all around!!!

Question, if the race was at 9 panels, same result?

herkhorse 03-01-2009 06:14 AM

Great work Bogey :tro:

Bogey 03-01-2009 06:22 AM

Thanks Max & Mike,

Mike, It's almost impossible to figure out because plenty of these would've not entered at 9 furlongs. The pace would've been completely different and QR would've had his work cut out for him on the 1st turn especially with Taqarub directly to his inside.

I can't wait for the Florida Derby with all the potential prospects and the occasional shippers.
