Although I sincerely hope he wins....

The most popular California bred since Best Pal is not going to be anywhere near a playable price. Maybe he'll be 2/1 at best.

Maybe if he wins that will split the Zenyatta vote

Loup Breton has a pretty strong reputation coming from France where he faced several Group 1 calibur horses. He also won his US debut last month for Julio Canani.

The likely second choice if not favorite.

Of course I don't look at the PPs, but I know Lava Man's and logically he is not going to win off this layoff. Proudinsky would be my pick with LM and Acclamation neck and neck behind (I hope).

In a way, he was the first to finish.

Unfortunately, there was still a quarter mile left.

Perhaps Lava Man really isn't that far off from the horse he was in his glory years.

Perhaps that was a better field than he usually faced, and he was maybe a bit short.

Then again, maybe the blood found on both his hind legs after the race means something.

I don't think he ran as bad as most others seem to think, though that last 1/8th was weak.

I never really saw Lava Man as the type of horse who could come home as quickly as they did in the race today.

Doug O'neil and the connections must be proud of today's accomplishment. They should be happy that Lava Man did outrun one horse today....the new John Henry statue.

Why the bolded "most" in my previous message? If you are agreeing with my assessment of his race, then clearly it's not obvious as most people think otherwise.

Otherwise, your post makes no sense to me at all.

Sorry a reply took so long. I do agree with you and don't remember reading any other discussion about the race here so I don't know who the "most" was. They were wrong. Did O'Neill etal make up their minds yet where he'll be the next month or so?
