The Brazilians are on fire once again.

Backing them blind has led to big profits for the last two years, and this year looks to be no different!!

It was really impressive!!
I told you I like Gloria de Campeao more....but both horses used to race on the turf here.....Happy Boy was a very good dirt racer in the beggining of his career....but he didnt faced strong fields...only on the turf...where he was an excellent horse...but not a TOP horse...i am surprised...

This is what happens when you bet against J. Moreira...the "Fantasma"....the ghost, the phantom, whatever....I dont know why I insist on betting against him... ....the young boy is awesome

I bet on both of them win and place, and in the last race I bet on both Happy Runner (1st) and Objeto De Arte who is an ex Brazilian horse who finished 2nd!

My contest selections didn't do much, but my blind betting on Brazilians came up brilliant once again

Yes Happy Runner won

Do you know much about the second placed finished, Objeto De Arte who is now trained in France, but used to race in Brazil?

Those two were in first and second for almost the whole race, nothing else looked like winning apart from those two.

Yes...he used to run here...he was a very good colt....with a great potential....but he never faced serious competition...he never raced even a listed race here...he won 3 out of 6 starts...all of them on the turf...allowance races...but on his last start...he broke track record (7f on the turf) and was sent to race abroad....under the silks of the same original owner...Stud Estrela Energia

Oh my god! My mistake!

Happy Boy and Happy Runner, winners of the 6th and 7th, were both ridden by experienced brazilian jockey J. Aparecido and not J. Moreira as I said...

Moreira only rode brazilians Olympic City and Olympic Glory....2nd and 3rd place respectively on the 2nd and 3rd races of the card.

Sorry!

No need to apologise, I didn't pick up on it, either. Both looked like very good jockeys today.

The replay of Happy Boy if anyone is interested

You know what i'm most impressed?...happy runner and objeto de arte....1st and 2nd place on the last race...

They never showed anything on the dirt here in brazil....Happy Runner...a 2nd place and a 4th place in weak allowances....objeto de arte...8th place in a even weaker one...

Dubai's dirt track may be made of grass i think

It really surprised me that the turf horses ran so well yesterday. Everyone I have spoken to that has ridden on the surface have said that the kickback can be really bad when it's wet. Also, the record of turf horses on the dirt track has been dreadful before yesterday.

It certainly didn't look as wet as I had expected. I will have to ask one of the jocks who rode there yesterday and see what he says.

Happy Boy was so tickled with himself that he refused to re-load onto the horse box for the return to the International Stables. After much negotiation and attempts to lure him aboard, he was walked home! I guess he was still bucking and playing when he got there. I was bucking and playing too because I bet him!

Her's a pic of him winning. http://s205.photobucket.com/albums/b...=happy-boy.jpg

De Kock reveals prep race for World Cup hope Asiatic Boy

by Jason Ford
.

MIKE DE KOCK has revealed a surprise prep race for his Dubai World Cup hope Asiatic Boy, who will make his eagerly awaited return to action at Nad Al Sheba on Thursday night over 6f.

De Kock has targeted the Group 3 Al Shindagha Sprint, the dirt feature of the second week of the $31million Dubai International Racing Carnival.

Winner of his four starts in the UAE last year, when he became the first horse to win the UAE Triple Crown, connections nominated the 2008 $6million Dubai World Cup as his next main target. He is Coral's 8-1 co-third favourite.

Subsequently raced twice in the UK, he returned to Dubai at the end of the summer and was widely expected to contest two legs of the Maktoum Challenge before the big race. However, having missed Thursday's Maktoum Challenge I, De Kock has announced a revised itinerary commencing next Thursday.

He explained: “Obviously six furlongs is on the short side for him but he has so much natural speed and talent we are confident he will be highly competitive even against sprinters. It may be a strange concept for the Europeans but we do it a lot in South Africa and the Australians do it all the time.

“This will be his first steps towards the World Cup and that is the ultimate goal –it is the world'srichest horse race. He is ready for a run and the six furlongs should be the ideal comeback for him.

“He remains a very exciting prospect and we were far from unhappy with his European campaign when he ran against the very best. We will see how he gets on Thursday before planning the rest of his build-up but at least one leg of the Maktoum Challenge would appear logical.”

Dubai World Cup
Coral: 6-4 Curlin, 4 Premium Tap, 8 Asiatic Boy, Happy Boy, Literato, 10 Daaher, 14 Daiwa Scarlet, 16 bar

There has been plenty of money around for Asiatic Boy for the World Cup. I wouldn't think he'd be quite good enough.

Is Curlin likely to show up for the gig, or is it currently in doubt?

Some nice entries for Thursday.

Dynamic Saint makes his first carnival appearance

L'amico Steve looks like he could take on at least one nice Godolphin horse in the shape of Boscobel and Al Shemali. Can the Brazilians do it again?

Then ofcourse we have Asiatic Boy in the last race, but can he cope with the drop back to six furlongs?
