Timonium is a good sale
I for one am really interested in the group purchasing a NYB yearling. I've learned so much from the partnership for Sumwon. This would be a chance to learn about what it goes in to buying a younger horse and getting it ready for the races.

Chuck, I know you've had to deal with all of Sumwon's bad habits. This would be a way of making sure those bad habits don't develop in the first place.

It would be an exercise in patience. Having to wait almost a whole year before seeing the horse run in a race. But if you pick a good one, Chuck, this would be a chance for something special. Maybe even the BC Juvenile (at Santa Anita in 2008). Hey, I wouldn't even have to get on a plane. Cool.

The above sounds like a pretty darn good plan. I especially like the part about picking out something nice but reasonable, then taking the time to do it right - it won't end up having to be re-trained like Sumwon.

This is the part I get to enjoy in exchange for the partnership!

But, who knows where Sumwon will be stabled in the fall, or where the next Dee Tee horse will be ... so I'm trying to enjoy it now, when I can

You mean other than spending every waking (and most sleeping) hours trying to find new ways to get hung up, cast, impaled, colicked, broken, and cut up?

I think there is a sale for NYB's at Saratoga. Last years it was on August 12, 3 days after the big sale. At least the catalog stated NYB on it's cover. You can check out last years catalog on the Fasug Tipton website.

If I remember correctly horses at that sale were selling for WAY cheaper than what they were really worth. . . no one was bidding. . .

I think being in foal has to be announced, and I guess we'd see that 13-1 or better again ....

They must have misspelled it because one of the clockers called me right after the work. I'll see them in the morning.

Hey for my two cents on the NYB, If you're inclination is to get a yearling, I am in too. Look for sons or daughters of Freud to run on the turf.
