The two horses that ran identical races at every fraction on the FLA Derby card came within 2 points of each other.

Orb also middle'd Take Charge Indy and Golden Ticket on the Fla Derby Undercard. What figure did Golden Ticket run in his Friday win, Steve?

A 109 and a 92 middles at 100.5

So, the barometer for Orb would have been in the 100.5 to 102 range... hats off to him for beating it.

Still, Beyers are final time figs, and that killer pace helped him, just as it did the horse who followed him Mylute (99 BSF) and even helped Golden Soul little more so because he was inside.

IMO, if Beyers are your figures of choice, the question in the Preakness certainly becomes 'Who can run a race better than 101 or 102?'

There's no easy looking answer to that one with Normandy out of the way and obviously Dreaming of Julia won't wheel back off of all that happened in the Oaks ... but, a 102 isn't exactly an impossible mountain to climb even for what's left out there.

I would like to think Oxbow will run a solid race in MD.

Gonna be the hot horse in Baltimore IMO off the trip and probably third choice at 6/1 which pretty much makes him tough to play when his real odds of winning are much lower.

Agree but I can see him running a Schakleford type race that could get it done.

Goldencents could seriously rain on Oxbow's parade at Pimlico.
He has visions of turning it into a parade but Goldencents is every bit as quick early.
This could be a perfect set up for Orb, who will likely go by them anyways, no matter the pace.

Vyjack is the type of horse who could win the King's Bishop imo.

I don't get it.

His dam is a Stravinsky half to Disco Rico and Disco Rico is just about the fastest sprinter I've ever seen. Led after a quarter in every single career start, all of them sprinting, and many of them tough sprint stakes.
