Default Peggy Whittingham ~

PEGGY WHITTINGHAM DIES AT 95

Peggy Whittingham,
wife of the late Hall of Fame trainer Charlie Whittingham,
(Trainer of Sunday Silence, HOTY 1989)
died Jan. 28 at her home in San Marcos, Calif.

She passed with her family by her side
following a long battle with breast cancer.
She was 95.

I spent many hours on the telephone with Peggy years ago
Because of including Sunday Silence in my book that I was producing

She was such a gracious, kind hearted Lady
Who would share stories about Charlie
how he would get up at 4 AM in the morning to go to the barn
just because he wanted to be with the horses

I felt honored just to have known her if only on the telephone

Thanks for sharing Ruffian. I once had a chat with Bob Baffert at Keeneland Sales ohhhhh a least 12 yrs ago or so. No where near as involved as the time you must have spent with Peggy. Very cool. She lived a long life.
