Hong Kong 2011 ~ 2012
A little late but I always overdo HK so I guess it's okay.
On opening day Joy and Fun won... http://racing.scmp.com/freeservice/n...s20110912a.asp New trainer (new to Hong Kong anyway, not new new) Richard Gibson is off the mark, superstar-to-be Smart Giant won, the Raiders discussed on the Centaur thread. Smart Giant winning... http://www.hkjc.com/english/racing/r...2011&raceno=07 Nice field shaping up for the Kwangtung H. this weekend with Brave Kid, Cerise Cherry, Super Satin and California Moon. Lots of off-season retirements of course but no huge names to note... |

Carthage finally won one...
http://www.hkjc.com/english/racing/r...eno=6&venue=ST Brightexpectations had her first HK start... not great. Pretty One (Prebble) won that one (the Guangzhou Cup). Handsome Zulu is entered at Happy Valley on Wednesday and for our friends from NZ Military Move just had a barrier trial but I mean he wasn't really asked for much and besides.. Penglai Xlaizi (sp) with Chadwick up was in that one so... Retired... He'll face off with Sacred Kingdom in the Sprint Trophy instead. |

Lock of the night... Smart Giant in R6.
R7... good luck to Sacred Kingdom of course. I think it might be Sweet Sanette / Sacred Kingdom / Little Bridge. Great field as is the following race with Ambitious Dragon, Beauty Flash (my choice), Xtension, Cerise Cherry, Sight Winner, Sunny King, etc. Just ****ing stellar! |

Medic Fortune won a barrier trial... batch 4, Chadwick up.
Please Mr. Millard give this kid the mount. This horse is 7 and out of 32 HK starts has never won... (He is the former NZ trained Pierre Joseph). Matt Chadwick even got Regency Horse to win one... Do it! http://www.hkjc.com/english/press/btrs.asp Gerald Mosse will leave to ride Immortal Verse in the QEII (beat frankel! ) and then Dream Peace in the EP Taylor at Woodbine next weekend. * * * Retired... one of the only girls in HK, the diva from SAF... Sweet Sanette. NO idea why. This is her beating Sacred Kingdom, Able One and One World... http://www.hkjc.com/english/racing/r...2011&raceno=07 She retires with a rating of 117 which puts her around #19 in the Top 50 list. While I keep up to date I've been terrible about posting anything on this thread...
I guess after years and years of being alone on the HK thread(s) it gets, well.... whatever. Hey CSC... if you're around your boy Collection was just transfered to Derek Cruz... * * * How good is Mathew Chadwick? Geez i love the old guy Medic Fortune (to be fair back when he was Pierre Joseph in NZ he did win 2)... but after 34 starts I officially decided to give up. I mean 7 years old and years over there... just figured that's okay it will never happen. It's like what happened with Regency Horse... he hadn't won since 2006 with Felix up and Chadwick gets on him and wins two in a row. I am thrilled that the rest of the world will know this kids name after the big races next weekend! Medic Fortune winning for the very first time today... http://www.hkjc.com/english/racing/r...2011&raceno=02 |

On the continuing tale of Good Ba Ba and his lying ******* of an owner (not just this... it went on for a long time with firing trainers, bad choices, etc)...
http://racing.scmp.com/freeservice/n...s20111213c.asp Unbelievable. This horse deserves to be retired somewhere nice and not running in Macau cause of greed. |

Green Birdie and Brightexpectations retired...
Bear Hero doing much better and back (R2, Griffin Trophy).. Good luck to Good Job... 19 starts, 0 wins, rating of 21 , Douggie up... Upset of the night... I think it's Elite of Chiu Ton (the former South Central who is not exacctly a win machine), Chadwick up. (That's a nice field, btw... Helene Witty, Mighty Sun, Bullish King could draw in...) Special good luck wishes to my favorite horse running tonight, Eight Plus Nine, in the final (won't win but whatever). 8 years old, 49 starts, used to be Adept and in his one and only start back home (NZ) Vosne Romanee was 2nd to him (field of 14). Guyon has the mount for the first time... This horse recovered from Colic back in 2007 and basically has one win a year so hopeful tonight is it but if not that's just fine. |

Completely surprised by the results and while I was rooting for half the field none of mine won.
Pure Champion (who was Steinbeck earlier in his career) won. The thing is I checked and two of his three owners had owned poor Absoute Champion so yeah... very nice for them. Not too likely but that would be fantastic if Sacred Kingdom could win this for the 3rd year in a row.
They're taking it one race at a time now so I'd imagine he could be retired if he doesn't do well on Sunday. Of course if he wins he beats the record for wins set by Silent Witness. We shall see. FINAL ANSWER blundered at the start. LUCKY NINE began awkwardly and shortly after the start raced in restricted room between SACRED KINGDOM and LITTLE BRIDGE. Near the 500 Metres, SUNNY KING was carried in by RICH UNICORN which shifted in to obtain clear running. Approaching the 400 Metres, LITTLE BRIDGE got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of JOY AND FUN. LUCKY NINE, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence. After this, LUCKY NINE had some difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 300 Metres. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SACRED KINGDOM had lost its left front plate. A veterinary inspection of AT MOMENT IN TIME after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, AT MOMENT IN TIME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LITTLE BRIDGE, EAGLE REGIMENT and JOY AND FUN were sent for sampling. |
