Depressing really. I still don't think River Proud will go. In a way, i'd prefer if he didn't. He is a lovely horse for next year who has already shown signs of being very immature, going to America as a 2yo wouldn't be a good thing for him, i doubt.

I think Dylan will win, and as long as Spencer doesn't ride Excellent Art, i think he will win, too.

I know the top 3 horses and River Proud but am not that familiar with Jeremy, Simply Perfect and Timarwa. Any info or race links would be appreciated. Thanks.

I shall answer when I have more time my Dahlink!

In the meantime, Annie Skates to the Juvy Fillies...

Mott is not favoring running. The race is a bit far for her with G1 mares, especially off her recent form. The 1M Matriarch may be a better spot.

George to the Classic. I will believe it when i see it.

I'm starting to think we might have seen the last of him. It sure if a strange, bordering on stupid decision to take him there for the Classic.

if GW is in the same form as last year, I think that it makes sense to go in the Classic. I thought he ran well enough last year to suggest that another try on dirt would yield an improvement.. He went tremendously well for a long way and got bumped at a crucial stage by the eventual winner. the only problem is that he isnt in the same form as last year..

I'm very much of the opinion that every horse will go on a surface they don't like once. Because they don't know any different. Danehills can't get out of their own way on dirt. His record is awful.

He has been in poor form really, when you consider how good he was a 3yo.

George has been taken out of both the QEII and the Champion Stakes at the last minute. I don't think all is well with him if i'm honest. The Classis is a complete U-turn on what they had suggested not that long ago.

Any chance that George has been going through fertility tests?? Could be possible that we have seen the last of him. I don't see any reason to go to the Classic when both the QEII and Champion have looked like perfect races for him. Neither were brilliant races, especially the Champion, which looks weak for a race of it's nature.

well the QEII wouldnt have been great for him with the weather..
all the danehills that have tried dirt havent liked it, but then again, from a statistical point of view, how many have tried??
as i said, i dont think they really have anything to lose going on racing one more time on dirt, they have much more to lose if they go on turf in the mile.. trying dirt is the jackpot ticket out of the strange situation theyve found themselves in this year with george. its worth a shot in my opinion..

You asked for the stats......

Turf starters: 2031
Turf winners: 1494 (74%)

Dirt starters: 536
Dirt winners: 160 (30%)

Turf SWs: 338 (17% from turf starters, 23% from turf winners)
Dirt SWs: 3 ( 0.6% from dirt starters, 2% from dirt winners)

Dirt stakes horses (including SWs): 15 (3% from dirt starters, 9% from dirt winners)

grand so, its not as bad as I thought it would be. he has actually had winners on dirt (obviously not good one though!).. i still would have to give it a shot.. u lose in the classic, its not a big loss, you loss in the mile, you lose most of his remaining credibility..

Really? Those stats are far worse than i was expecting. I asked someone else for his dirt stats a couple of weeks ago and i couldn't believe that he had that many dirt starters. They were dreadful figures the way i look at it. Sure, he has had winners, but only moderate ones and because he was a world class stallion those stats are dreadful.

No one seems to know what they want to do. However, i think they have made the right decision, because Cecil's other horse will win the Champion.

Check out the BRIS PPs and you will see that she wins only if she gets to sit on or near the lead in races with glacial early pace. She just doesn't have the pace to go with the leaders if there is a more normal US pace and she doesn't have the turn of foot to pick up her field from behind.

Godolphin are widening the options late in the season for their progressive juvenile Ibn Khaldun by entering him, for a fee of $15,000, in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Monmouth Park, New Jersey, on Oct 26, though there is still every chance the colt could stay in Britain to tackle the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster instead.

Simon Crisford, Godolphin's racing manager, ahead of arguably the most important week of the year for the 'Royal Blues', said: "We're keeping all avenues open as we sort out where our two-year-olds stand."

Ibn Khaldun completed a hat-trick when he comfortably met the challenge of a step-up in class to Group Three by beating Redolent and Yahrab in the Deloitte Autumn Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

The more likely target is the Racing Post Trophy..... although with so many u-turns made by connections over the past few days that anything is possible.

I think he will be best on a softer surface. Dubai Destination went well on ground with a bit of ease in it, and so far his progeny have done, too. Gossamer was brilliant when the mud was flying. So he has the pedigree of a horse that would prefer a bit of cut.

I think the Racing Post Trophy would be set up for him. They will go a good gallop and his hold up tactics should work a treat. He will also be without Frankie, which is another good thing
