From the JRA, on the QEII girls...

TRAINING REPORT
33rd Running of the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup (G1)
Training Report of Foreign Entrees
France's Tres Rapid and Germany's Fair Breeze arrived safely at NaritaAirport on Thursday, November 6 to compete in the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup (G1) to be held on Nov. 16.

Tres Rapid landed first at 7 a.m. and was transported to the JRAHorseracingSchoolQuarantineCenter in ShiroiCity at 9:43 a.m. Fair Breeze landed at NaritaAirport at 10:38 a.m. and arrived at the QuarantineCenter at 13:30 p.m.

Comments by their connections taken upon arrival are as follows;

TRES RAPIDE (IRE, f3, bay)

"The horse is in fine condition. She'll go to the track tomorrow and have some light training. We hope to run well and get great experience. We hope to answer everyone's expectations."

(Comments taken from L. Gadbin)

FAIR BREEZE (GER, m5, dark bay or brown)

"She is in good condition, but after a 22-hour trip, she seems to be a bit nervous. She will not run the tracks tomorrow. We'll walk her around and check her condition."

(Comments taken from S. Hofer)

At the Quarantine Center

November 10, 2008 (Monday)

TRES RAPIDE (IRE, f3, bay)

-cantered 1 1/2 laps (2,000m) [fastest time; approximately. 15 seconds/furlong] on 1,400m track (left-handed), ridden by L. Gadbin from 7:00 to 7:22
-underwent barrier test (passed)

“We’ve been concentrating on getting her relaxed, and since things are working as planned, we’re intending to start to prepare her more for Sunday’s race. Tomorrow we’ll work her a bit stronger than today.

(Comments taken from L. Gadbin)

FAIR BREEZE (GER, m5, dark bay or brown)

- cantered 8 furlongs (1,600m) [fastest; approximately 17 seconds/furlong] on 1,400m track, ridden by S. Hofer from 7:00 to 7:12
- underwent barrier test (passed)

“Everything is going smoothly. She was relaxed at the barrier test – anyway she’s never had any problems at the gate so there’s nothing to worry about.
After discussing the plans with our trainer, we’ve decided that her gallop will be on Friday the 14th at Kyoto Race Course (initially planned for the 13th).

Training report, for his fans...

November 19, 2008 (Wednesday)

At Kyoto Racecourse

RAHY'S ATTORNEY (CAN, g4, bay)

- jogged, cantered 1 lap, on turf course from 7:00 to 7:15
(ridden by T. Gaskin)

"He's in good condition and I'm happy with that. I checked the turf this morning and found it a bit firm, but I don't think it's too firm for him and I'm sure he can handle it. The jockey, Slade Callaghan, will be riding him tomorrow morning. He'll probably do some strong work down the stretch on the turf track."

I can't remember a north american based horse shipping over there and doing particularily well, the locals look tough in particular Super Hornet.

I think I may have to stay up for this one Stormcat, the connections for Silent Pride are good ones. I know this Jock is less known than Take but he's not a bad Jockey. Hopefully 7-1 range or higher!

Am I crazy thinking it's possible tonight?

I don't think that's a crazy idea, he was one of the possibilities I looked at also.

Tonite's pp's, hopefully I will stay awake..

Haven't really looked them over but of course Super Hornet looks like the one to beat. Interested in Blumenblatt here, Take on Phoenix, I like Silent Pride too, and maybe it is Company's time for a G1, meiner Rainer/Fine Grain interesting too......obviously I'm still all over the place will have to see them milling around...
Kiss to Heaven a sentimental favorite of mine too and Jolly Dance...

I think Rahy's in deep here but good that he went...sad though in his pp's Shakis is there...

Hey is there any info on Captain Thule, has he come back?

I'm not sure about the Captain.

I was caught off guard with the Jockey change on Silent Pride, peculiar? I've never bet a race with Goto riding and statistically the move seems to be a lateral one. I do have more of a comfort zone in Yokoyama's rides. I guess the main thing is I think the the horse will be there in the end regardless of either rider.
