Default Worst Ride EVER

Watch Jeremy Rose bury Labadeel in the Cornucopia Stakes (Race 8) at Philadelphia Park today. It will leave you speechless.

PHA doesn't make the replays of their races available to the public.

So, basically, **** THEM!!!

Worse ride ever? I didn't see anything wrong with the ride, he moved the horse out on the turn for a clear run( I am watching the replay as I write)from the box seat, he didn't have the horse to hit the hole when the eventual winner hit the hole full of run, thus the horse was checked behind a tiring pace setter. The horse never looked like a winner the way he ran out the race.

Better yet, why don't you explain to us why you think it was the worst ride ever. When you make a claim like that it does help to back it up with some factual points.

The chart speaks for itself....although there is nothing like watching the video.....when have you ever seen equibase use the phrase BRUTAL TRIP as the comment line. That should sum it up for you.

The ‘brutal trip’ comment by the chart maker is simply wrong, thanks for bringing that to my attention, but that comment is probably the most over the top, inaccurate comment I’ve ever read describing a ride since I began reading charts.

I watched the race again and again and came to the same conclusion as when I first saw it.

Rose’s horse broke on top but was then outsprinted by the 2 pace horses, instead of “engaging” into a 3 way speed duel he allowed his horse to settle into a stalking position behind the speed, the horse was never steadied or checked as they were approaching the turn though for a brief moment he was in tight, when Rose decided to make his move he tipped off his horse on the turn, the horse responded under pressure but couldn’t hold his position to the eventual winner causing him to check behind the drifting pace horse. My belief is the Rose horse simply wasn’t good enough yesterday as evidenced when he couldn’t accelerate with the winner or hold his position on the turn.

You can be critical of the tactics but not the ride;
However if Rose chose different tactics by engaging the leaders and dueling with them, how much horse would he had then? Secondly his only other alternative would have been to put a stranglehold on his horse and have him come from off the pace, since this horse was never a deep closer, I'm not sure that would have been the correct thing to do either.

My replays don't go back that far for Calder, I couldn't find it, I'll take your word for it.

Of course, she had sat a perfect trip, even avoiding trouble when Irish Cove checked on the turn, before lacking room in the stretch. If she'd have won, all those horses that actually RAN in the race would've been SCREWED.

On the turn he could have gone between the #12 & #6, alot of Jockies would have made the room floating out on the turn, in turn selling it. If there is a fault with Garcia, he is enamored with the rail more times than not even when there are safer options. If you don't think she is a playback off that trouble, great I'll have her on my horsewatch if she is playable at similar odds under simliar race conditions.

SA #6 02/5/09, similiar circumstances but Talamo makes the right decision this time and gets the win to pay $16.10

Is there anything more COMICAL than Joel Rosario trying his best G Gomez in the lane and looking like an absolute idiot? Incredible how a supposedly accomplished jockey just can't keep a horse straight when trying to put it in a drive. And, he's got to do a wee bit more work on timing his moves.

For the most part Rosario rides are identical. Take a horse back, sit on him/her until the 1/4 pole, and then go 4, 5, 6 wide into the stretch to finish evenly or 2 out of 11 times get up and win. Which is still 18% of the time, miraculous stat because as Scuds puts it, he is Heckyl & Jeckyl - ing around the track most of the time.
