Cheers to Couldn't Care Less, one of my adoptees who paid nicely (no I didn't play him... I'm just his cheering squad).

Pre-entries for the 14th.....

The lower level Class 1 boyz.

Syllabus is VOR's best buddy. When Vengeance had to go into pre-quarantine before Dubai, his trainer asked the owners of Syllabus for permission to put him in quarantine as well so that life would seem somewhat normal for VOR. They got special permission to be placed at the far end of Sha Tin AND were allowed to use the pool at the end of the day... permission had never been granted in the past.

Viva Macau is no rabbit.

Dave is an old-timer who hasn't won in a long time now ('05-"06 season) BUT who could forget the Mile Trial when he beat Bullish luck, Scintillation, The Duke and Perfect Partner (rest in peace good boy)?

http://www.hkjc.com/english/racing/r...2005&raceno=08

He is loved and is a local icon.

The Supremes haven't done too well and the rest? They've had their moments.

Almond lee is the leading trainer right now. It's too early in the season for that to mean much but thought I'd throw it in.

A nice field. Not stellar but a nice field all the same.

The Duke - no swimming (figures..... c'mon Dennis, let the kids swim more!)

Armada - Size has been working him himself!

Trackwork notes.....

RACE ONE, RATED 60-40 (C4), 1,600 METRES
Harry Harry has appreciated the cooler turn of weather and has not been getting as hot and agitated in the mornings. His action has been sound, too, and he's been unlucky in recent HV runs. Danabaa has been significantly improved by two runs back and is looking much fitter for this run. Decagonal went too hard in blinkers last start and trainer Almond Lee has taken them straight off. He'll be much harder to beat this time assuming he settles - he's certainly fit enough. Wait For Me continues to look well and has worked in accordance with his usual patterns.
RACE TWO, RATED 40-20 (C5), 1,400 METRES
Accelerator is still inclined to be a bit green but looks better than most of these. He looks fitter and his gallops have been fluent. General Speedee is fitter for recent racing and although he's had just one steady gallop, he handled it stylishly and will present well today. Spicy Hot has been disappointing but has benefited from racing - he hasn't galloped but looked nice and bright when out cantering. Dongguan Victory has the gear change and Me Tsui certainly knows how to keep him looking great. Globe River is the other possibility - he trialled reasonably but looks a treat.

RACE THREE, RATED 60-40 (C4), 1,400 METRES
I'm No Square looks in superb order. He's perfectly placed here and his last three gallops under Shane Dye have been hard to fault. Savute went well in his trial over the 1,700m at Happy Valley and then galloped well with La Merveille on Thursday. Wonderful Blessing has done a power of work, some of it very smart, and he can win first-up. Monty gets the gear chance and has always impressed with his free and easy movement on the tracks, while Cop Hill Lad stretched out nicely in his final piece, Friday, under Manoel Nunes.

RACE FOUR, RATED 60-40 (C4), 1,000 METRES
Bejewelled might be a very good horse. He went much better than expected in scoring on debut and recent efforts have been much better than anything he did last season. Clement Elite should have won on his return but for traffic problems. Trainer Almond Lee has him in great order and he looks like he'll be competitive again. Amazing Venture has trialled and worked well, and might be capable of winning on debut. Diamond Supreme is a gifted galloper who has also done plenty to get him ready. Of the rest, Racing Spirit and Ganbaria appear to be the best on recent trackwork and trials.

RACE FIVE, RATED 40-20 (C5), 1,400 METRES
Celestial Wonder didn't have things all his own way last start, so the effort was sound. He's again worked strongly and should go close. Dragon Inn has trained well, a credit to Me Tsui, and was kept well on the bridle by the trainer in his only piece of fast work since racing. Pleasure Pleasure has thrived, and although his last-start win was an every-chance affair, he'll have every opportunity to replicate the performance. Ambition has had three recent gallops and gone quite nicely, so he too is capable of holding his form.

RACE SIX, RATED 80-60 (C3), 2,000 METRES
Industrial Success continues to work like a winner and is now well graded for a horse that has won at Group Three level. South Breeze is fitter for one run back and his final gallop over 800m on Thursday was achieved in effortless fashion. Mastery has been going well for several weeks and has pleased in three recent gallops under Zac Purton. Seasons Knack did a very flash piece of work on Thursday, going stride for stride with the smart Grand Cru. Courageousheart has been a significant improver, and went too strongly for Sounds Best in their final workout over 1,200m on Thursday.

RACE SEVEN, RATED 80-60 (C3), 1,200 METRES
Island Super may have the big weight here but it's the only thing you can fault him on. From trackwork, at least, he's done everything right. Handsome Target has caught the eye in two recent races and his work this week was also positive. Be My Song will be at a big price but is worth throwing into multiples on the strength of some very nice work. Rich Dragon is backing up and not needed any fast work, but remains looking in great order. One World went superbly down the riverside on Thursday, while Laser Tiger has been catching the eye, both in his gallops and in terms of general appearance.

RACE EIGHT, RATED 115-90 (C1), 1,800 METRES
Syllabus has done a power of work and won't be beaten on the score of fitness, though the big weight issue is something else again. Ever Bright had a quiet trial but has done a power of other work to bring him on. Supreme Gains has been improved by one run back, as well as subsequent gallops, all with Glen Boss on board. Time Supreme's final gallop really took the eye, a classy piece of work, while Luckyme has been a major improver since his first run back.

RACE NINE, RATED 80-60 (C3), 1,400 METRES
Operation Secret has gone well and did nicely in the second half of his 800m Thursday riverside gallop. Enchanted has been a star worker and happily has drawn well here so he can be ridden with the necessary cover. Shangdong General did a sparkling piece of work down the riverside on Thursday and is coming to hand nicely. Ferro Beau has had just the one gallop since winning and looked smooth and fluent in that 400m breeze. Singing Diners has trimmed up substantially with one run back and will run a much better race.

RACE TEN, RATED 80-60 (C3), 1,600 METRES
Mutual Fun looks a very fit horse and is well capable of confirming the value of his first-up win. First Baby did a very nice 800m turf gallop on Monday and then stretched out impressively in his final 800m gallop on the AWT, Friday. Circuit Hero did a steady, solo riverside gallop on Thursday and while he made no time, he does bear a fit and well-trained appearance. Right Fraar looked the part in a gallop with John Size on Thursday, and Fair Win, backing up from an unlucky run last week, also came down nicely in even time on Friday, looking improved.

RACE ELEVEN, RATED 100-80 (C2), 1,600 METRES
Fellowship ran a blinder in a recent trial, making up many lengths and doing it all on the bridle. Full Of Joy also trialled nicely down the straight 1,000m on October 2 and caught the eye with an effortless final 800m, Thursday. Dao Dao had trainer John Size on board for his last four gallops and the Australian galloper is clearly a work in progress. Carrizo Creek's final piece of work caught the eye, under Manoel Nunes, while Win Practitioner was off the track all the way in his barrier trial last Friday but looks ready to resume.

Gallant...

If you're around good luck to your boy Dave.

Hope one of the old guard wins but Ever Bright looks good.

R11 is a really nice field...

Behave Wong's Success! (R10)

Those Wong boys always have problems or act up...

Excerpt, incidents report...

Racing Incident Report
After being boxed, WONG SUCCESS became fractious and momentarily had its right hind leg caught on the platform inside the barrier. WONG SUCCESS was removed from the stalls and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

Viva Macau proves his worth and Dave did well!

Racing Incident Report
SYLLABUS proved difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, SYLLABUS will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. TIME SUPREME and FAMOUS DANCER were slow to begin. At the 700 Metres, SUPREME GAINS was steadied when disappointed for running between DAVE BEST and EVER BRIGHT which at this stage commenced to improve its position around the field. For a considerable distance after straightening, SOUNDS BEST was held up and unable to obtain clear running. In the early part of the Straight, FAMOUS DANCER had difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 150 Metres, M W Leung (SOUNDS BEST) dropped his whip. For the majority of the Home Straight, SYLLABUS was not able to obtain clear running and as a result was not fully tested. Throughout the race, NILOMETER travelled wide and without cover. TIME SUPREME was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TIME SUPREME after the race did not show any significant findings. VIVA MACAU and LUCKYME were sent for sampling.

After speaking to a friend who is close to the connections of Toylsome, they are seriously thinking about sending him to Hong Kong to compete in some of the six furlongs races there.

One time pacemaker for Manduro, now he's in the big league.

Go Toylsome.

Racing Incident Report
BOOM began awkwardly, got its head up and lost a considerable amount of ground at the start. WHATAFANTASY was slow to begin, then shortly afterwards lost further ground when bumped by EXPRESS WIN which was carried in by ULTRA FANTASY which in turn was carried in by ISLAND SPEED. In the middle stages, particularly making the Home Turn, STRONG GAIN hung out. Throughout the race, BULB KING travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. When questioned, A Delpech (ISLAND SPEED) said the intention had been to lead on the horse. He said his mount began well, he then rode along, however, CANNONISE and FIFTY FIFTY which had drawn to his inside had mustered superior speed. He said approaching the turn at the 600 Metres he took his mount back to a position behind CANNONISE with cover to avoid being trapped three wide. He said in the Straight ISLAND SPEED was disappointing in the manner in which it closed the race off and in his opinion the horse was not suited by today track conditions as it appreciates some cut in the ground. CANNONISE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CANNONISE after the race did not show any significant findings. ISLAND SPEED, FIFTY FIFTY and ULTRA FANTASY were sent for sampling.

If you're around, I'm sorry about Dave, Gallant...

Hope he'll be okay.

Racing Incident Report
SAMBUCA was withdrawn on 2.11.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore tendon injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter NILOMETER (E Saint-Martin). FAMOUS DANCER was also withdrawn on 2.11.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore left fore suspensory). Before being allowed to race again, SAMBUCA and FAMOUS DANCER will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAIL THE STORM began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SUPREME GAINS. FELLOWSHIP was slow into stride. Shortly after the start, SURVEY SURVEY, which failed to muster speed, was taken across behind runners. In the early stages, FLYING TAMARI was taken back to a position with cover. Near the 700 Metres, FLYING TAMARI was carried wider by JADE DRAGONFLY which shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of FELLOWSHIP. Making the Home Turn, HAWKES BAY hung out. In the early part of the Straight, TOWERING FEELING had some difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 400 Metres, SUPREME GAINS was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed between HELENE PILLAGING which commenced to give ground and RIVER JORDAN which shifted out to obtain clear running. After the 400 Metres, JADE DRAGONFLY, which had been experiencing difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted to the outside of NILOMETER to obtain clear running. At the 150 Metres, FLYING TAMARI, which was hanging in, was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of DAVE’S BEST which shifted in. After this, FLYING TAMARI continued to hang in. Passing the 100 Metres, FELLOWSHIP got its head on the side and shifted in. Throughout the race, NILOMETER travelled wide and without cover. Mr D J Hall, trainer of HAWKES BAY, said as the horse was increasing distance from the 1400 Metres of its last start to 1600 Metres today and had a more favourable barrier draw, he had instructed B Prebble to go forward and obtain a position where the horse would travel comfortably. He said it was anticipated with NATURAL BLITZ in the field that the race would be run at a good tempo. He confirmed at the horse’s most recent run he had instructed G Boss from the outside barrier to ride the horse quietly. He said HAWKES BAY had been a difficult horse and its behaviour had not improved greatly since it had been gelded and because of this the horse could not be relied upon at all times to begin well. He said in races of 1600 Metres or longer in future, providing circumstances suited, HAWKES BAY would be ridden in a similar manner to today, however, in races of lesser distances the intention would be to have HAWKES BAY ridden more quietly. RIVER JORDAN and HAWKES BAY were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported DAVE’S BEST was lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, DAVE’S BEST will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

The jockey-go-round.....

The Delpech appeal was denied so the Vengeance of Rain mount goes to (music, please...) Kevin Shea.

Eric Saint-Martin picked up the Ab Champ mount since Brett Prebble is sticking with Medic ("I'd follow him anywhere in the world") Power.

Mossee booked for Sacred Kingdom which means Scintillation now needs a rider.....

Last but not least, Saint-Martin is the new rider for Bullish Luck (in the Cup Trial) and Joyful Winner (the Mile Trial).
