Default Jeter

I admit I thought he was in serious decline coming into the season based on last year, I couldn't have been more wrong. While I love to point out all the mistakes and bad choices he Yankees make over the years, finding, developing and keeping this guy was a great move. In an era where every sport is seemingly overrun with jerks, criminals, cheaters and thugs, Jeter is all class. He may not be the "greatest" Yankee or best SS ever, but his legacy will last a long time, just as the man he passed, Lou Gehrig's did.

I have hated the Yankees my whole life, but I love Derek Jeter. He has overcome my personal hatred for his team by being a class act and a great player.

He also has managed to accumulate a long list of off the field accomplishments without stirring up any controversies....

Does it have to do with the Michigan connection?

The fact that I hate the Yankees? Yes.

Jeter from Kalamazoo? No.

I think the Ohio folks have the hatred too. As a kid, I remember pulling in WWWE out of Ohio on my am radio listening to Indians games. For some reason their promotional giveaway of the "I Hate Yankee Hanky" has stuck with me all theses years. I thought it was hilarious in a time of hat, bat, pennant giveaways.

I am not that old so I didnt see many of the Yankee greats like Dimaggio and Gehrig, but to me Jeter has to be very close to the top of greatest Yankees EVER. Theres a lot to be said about consistent longevity, avoiding injuries and starting nearly every game his whole career, avoiding bad things off the field, delivering key hits in key at bats, making huge plays in the field and just overall being a hell of a person.

To me Jeter is an A+ class act, best in the game guy...but I wish he played for a different team!

Yankees = The never-ending pig project. Keep buying your ring. Then, claim you've done something classy n' brave.

He's a more-than-willing pig product.

They have gone ringless for a long time. As a matter of fact the last time they won any rings it was with a bunch of homegrown guys playing big roles. Just happy that they havent quite figured that part out yet.

The Yankees and a great many of their fans are all that is wrong with sports but Jeter is ok in my book. As for the rest of them and scumbag George, screw em.
