Default Next Saturday Venue???

Too bad we can't get a warm up for BC at Keenland. Looks like Belmont may have the best card. Others suggestions???

The stakes calendar is pretty sparse, isn't it? Mahoning Valley does have a group of stakes races limited to Ohio breds, and Belmont should have a decent card including the G3 Bold Ruler. After that, the pickings get quite slim.

At the risk of being called a heretic, I could suggest as a possible option not having a contest, but instead using the time to get more familiar with all of the pre-entries for the upcoming BC races. Despite COVID travel restrictions, it appears that there will be a very strong contingent of Euros who could have a major say in the outcome of a number of the turf races. There are lots of places where you can find video of their prep races in England, Ireland or on the continent. I'm not trying to push this option, just offering it for consideration as we approach the BC days.

Even though I have taken to watching some of those Euro races on you tube, I say play on this weekend. There is a chance, albeit a slim one, that some of us might emerge from bankruptcy( although maybe more likely, just digging a bigger hole for ourselves). Belmont seems like the better place to go, but we will know more about that tomorrow evening.

I agree with Cal. I would like the opportunity to dig myself deeper in debt.
I agree somewhat with Joly. An abbreviated card wherever we go is fine by me. Not so that I can cap the Breeders Cup that early but to let others do so if they choose.

A DAY OFF SOUNDS EXHILARATING

I would be very happy not playing at all
Give my brain a rest before the big days

I'll happily go along with whatever choice the group makes. My personal preference would be to take a week off and return with vigor for the BC.

Well, I guess I'll just have to get my horse racing fix from the Del Mar Beat Ray Contest this weekend. Disappointing, as I usually do better in this contest than in that one, but Breeder's Cup is a grueling 2 days so maybe we need the rest to be at our best(unintended poetry there). I doubt I'll be watching many of those Euro races on You Tube as I am no great race watcher, but I do watch them occasionally when the past performances that you get are so terrible that you can't even tell what kind of running style a horse has. Not a fan of European past performances. Wish there was one type of PPs for all races, but that will most likely never happen. Rest up everyone so we can hopefully, knock it out of the park next Friday or Saturday.

Cal, thanks for mentioning the Del Mar Beat Ray Contest.

For anyone who wants to give it a try, here's a link to the contest rules:

Well we haven't heard from many (except the usual gang) but I would think it would be great if we all:

- Get ready for Halloween the 2020 way
- Watch some good college football games and cheer for my Clemson Tigers if you don't have a team to cheer for
- Get out and vote early, if you haven't already
- Walk though Home Depot and Lowes to pick out your new pre-lit Christmas Tree (they've had them out for awhile already???
- Plan your 2020 scaled back (maybe masked) Thanksgiving family gathering
- Anticipate how good it will feel to get that 1 hour of sleep back
- Start early studies on all the Breeders Cup Races
- And watch racing on TV and/or play another contest

Because . . .

It looks like we will be skipping our contest for this coming Saturday. Let's take a short freshening and we'll see you November 6 and 7 for our annual end of the contest year Breeders Cup extravaganza and another Gallivan Cup Challenge.

I'll put up some of the Breeders Cup week extras after we know who our next President will be . . . at least I hope we know. President of the United States that is
