Life is full of chances. Just knowing how to recognize them helps.

it is?

i read it and didn't get that impression.

the author is a biblical scholar who has written extensivly on the old and new testament.

what part of it did you find anti-religious?

Religion isn't the root of all evil, it is merely the miracle-gro.

Firstly, Kirsch doesn't call himself a biblical scholar, merely a journalist! He has written several books on the O.T. and suggests that he is giving substance to biblical stories heretofore unexplained or dramatized. Publisher Weekly said his books wouldn't sit well with fundamentalists, and chides Kirsch for not letting the reader know where he is coming from and what his sources might be. Someone looking for solid answers would not be served by reading this book, imo!

Hey Timm,
Not to change the topic back to where it started, but did you happen to catch the Vitters news conference yesterday?
Wendy sure looked like a gal that dresses to satisfy hubby's needs (cravings).
She forgives him, wears skintight animal pattern lowcut dresses, and she even looks like she combed her hair (though I think her colorist might have been drunk), and as long as hubby wears a condom, I think she'll be safe at home.
Now what exactly did you mean by "sit well with fundametalists". They seem to be coming up with new positions all the time.

DTS: I'll wade through the bait and just say that statement was by Publishers Weekly on the Amazon.com site.
btw.....this thread, started by you, was about the Catholics shelling out 660mil to people that were abused...not Vitter!

This article makes no mention of Cortes, Pissaro, nor any of those that were responsible for the massacre and subjugation of Native Peoples (ever hear of the "missionary position"?).
Anyway, I found it to be plenty hilarious. Pope Benny XVI is getting called out. More than about time for that.
