Default May 6 CD Derby Day ROI Wagers go here . . .

We'll have fun, fun, fun 'till our daddy takes our T-bred away. Thank you Beach Boys.

We have a $200 virtual wallet, so place your best four wagers wisely. We'll take the Kentucky Oaks-Kentucky Derby double as one of your wagers if you get it in by the Oaks scheduled start time. And you may bet on any race on the full card.

Looks like great weather too, so Enjoy The Day!!!

So the Oaks/Derby Double is the only 2 day wager we can make? I think there are others. There is a 2 day P3 that includes the Oaks on Friday and the Old Forester Turf Classic and Derby on Saturday and I think there is also a 2 day P6.

Basically, this is what we've always done here and thinking of giving RQ a bit of a break. You know me, it's KISS all the way in my book but if RQ chimes in and is OK acepting any and all Oaks Derby wagers, so be it.

I have no objections if anyone wants to play the two day pick 3 or god forbid the pick six. I get a lot of help when I'm stumped on payouts so think big if you will.

The two day P6 is a dollar wager. If I were to play a P6 it would be one of the 20 cent ones that are offered each day. I don't usually tend toward the delusions of grandeur type of bets so likely no divine intervention will be necessary. I usually don't even pay much attention to the Oaks/Derby wager, but might play the two day P3 wager. Have to try something new occasionally.

Everyone in the contest can bet any race on the Churchill Downs Derby Day card Ruff and the special wagers starting on Oaks day. However since you don't read Don's or my posts you can only place wagers on the odd races with an even amount of horses at the gate and no horses with the letter Z in it's name.

Does this 2 day P3 count as one race or three?

It's a single bet, so it counts as one race, just like a daily double or a pick 5.

Good to know. I knew that to be true on a single day of racing, but rules don't seem all that clear on a 2 day bet. Also Don said at the beginning of this thread to make your best 4 wagers. I didn't think we were limited to 4 wagers. I thought we were limited to 4 races or have I got that wrong?

Cal. You could bet as many types of bets as offered in each of four race. For example Zippy often bets an exacta and a show wager in one race and exacta's in the other three. In theory I guess (and correct me if I'm wrong) you could start a pick 3, pick 4 and pick 5 in one race (if offered) and still bet 3 more races. Of course I'd have a nervous breakdown scoring it but that's a story for another day.

I'll save you $40, I think. Pretty sure 10 cent supers are not allowed. Minimum supers allowed are a dollar. That really sucks, but understandable as far as betting by the live tellers or even the self service machines. I remember when they first allowed
Supers at Oaklawn. Normally, there would never be more than a few people at the machines betting. Probably a lot of people
intimidated by the machines, but after they allowed the Supers even the lines at the machines were long.

I've always thought it was 4 races. After all, some of my pick 4 arrays might have more than 4 separate "wagers" (especially if I use the "A', "B", "C" and "X" method), but still only counts as 1 race.

I am capable of betting a ridiculous number of wagers on a single race. Probably causing RQ to regret his job as the scorer, but have tried to be a bit more conservative of late. Kind of hard to be conservative when it comes to the Derby.

OK, enough of the banter, much as I enjoy it. Time to step up to the window and get my bet down.

Oaks/Derby Double:

$5: 7 / 5,15,17 ($15)
$3: 7 / 2,3,6,8,14,22 ($18)
$3: 4,6 / 5,15,17 ($18)
$2: 4,6 / 2,3,6,8,14,22 ($24)

Total: $75

Left to wager: $125

You are probably right Cal. It must be a Derby/ Oaks thing. I looked at the results yesterday and saw there were 10 cent superfecta payouts so I assumed the same for Saturday. Even the Churchill site mentions 10 cent supers but I guess not tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up.
